Ok, I'm 5 foot 11 and I'm 15 (but I haven't grown an inch since June '10). And on Thursday, I weighed 200 pounds.
Since then I have:
Replaced snacks such as chocolate and crisps to an apple, banana or cereal bar.
Replaced Soda with water (I've had about 500ml of water these past few days).
I also plan to walk to and back from school every day (my school's about 4km away from my house).
I also see my friend (almost) every weekend, so instead of taking the bus, I'll ride my bike to his house and back (he also lives about 4km away). I didn't go this weekend because we was at his grandmas
I weighed myself tonight and I was 196, but I've heard that some people who lose weight lose a lot in the first week then they just put it back on.
Should I lose some weight from doing all the above?

Also, mind how much - and what - you put on the plate at meal time.
I'm no health freak, but it's quite simple but not always easy. Eat less and exercise more.

Usually when you hear people losing weight by changing their diet/activities and put it back on, it's usually because they've reverted back to their old ways. |

I can eat all I want and not gain a pound, it's pretty awesome. Plus I can drink more beer!!! I was 180 pounds when I started and now I'm 155 at 6'4". I've never been fat but I just wanted to give up drinking sodas and I tasted one the other day(just a sip) and I thought it was to sweet tasting. |

| | | | Eating better is a good start
Exercise what ever it may be , just moving more, is great.
Now for the secret to keeping a good weight and fitness level forever.
Don't stop or change the first two items.
It's a lifestyle, not a vacation.
Good luck ! |

Hang in there and keep us posted. |

| | | | Anytime you eat healthier and exercise more, you will lose fat. Notice I did not say lose weight though. The reason being is you will most likely gain some muscle mass to replace the fat and muscle weighs more than fat. Also, losing it slowly is much better on your body so I would say that from what it sounds like you are doing, you are doing a good job. Keep up the good work!

Sounds like you are getting off to a good start.

I'm no health freak, but it's quite simple but not always easy. Eat less and exercise more. | This is so true. I've gone down 3 pants sizes from just having portion control, and just eating when I'm hungry.

The most basic way to see it is that if your daily calorie intake is lower than what you caloric need you WILL lose weight, if it is higher you WILL gain weight...
What most people fail to understand is that unless you are a professional swimmer needing 12000 calories a day or some mad athlete like that you wont really influence your weigh loss by exercising alone, what you eat is the most important...
If you need 2500 calories a day, consume 4000 a day, and start walking thus burning an extra 250 calories or so a day you are still eating 1250 calories to much!
It is a lot easier to eat 1250 calories less than it is to burn 1250 calories through exercising....
The way you are planning to do it is great!
Just for fun, try to figure out how many calories you eat every day only with soda and snack! I can assure you you will be amazed how fast it goes up!
Then replace all that crap with water and healthy snacks and you will start loosing weight faster than you can imagine!
Exercising will help but dont expect it to make a big difference if you dont change what you eat first.....
Most importantly, dont see this as dieting, that will make it a lot harder on yourself, just see it as a lifestyle change!
I find it eaiyer to just change the way you eat: forget about soda, chocolate bars and fast food altogether and completely stop seeing them as an option!
After a few months you will feel so much better you won miss it....
Good luck.
