I was flipping around the channels last night and stumbled on 'Inception' with about 30 minutes left. I came in when the guys on the motorcycle are shooting at the van, before it gets to the bridge. After watching for a few minutes and liking it, I faced what is for me a common dilemma: keep watching and spoil the ending of what might be a good movie, or turn it off and wait until I can watch the whole thing, which I might never get around to it, and it might not be that good anyway.
I chose the former (kept watching). Having done so, is the beginning worth watching? |

Otherwise you'll not understand the "why", only the "how". And the very last scene will have no weight.
Oh, and you missed more than an hour.

However, I found the movie entertaining but I kept feeling like this movie thought it was smarter than it really was. The acting is stellar and on point. The casting was well done, but it came off a bit pretentious to me. Like it was ground breaking cinema or something. |

I've always been a huge fan of mindf*** films, (Videodrome, EraserHead, American Psycho (gnarliest book I've ever read too btw) Requiem for a Dream, A Scanner Darkly, etc etc)and just considered this entry level MF, just tries too hard to push a premise thats really not as complex as it makes itself seem. IMO Shutter Island was a muuuuuuuuuuuuch better movie, though Inception was a good movie.

It was a great movie, don't get me wrong, but you really have to prepare yourself if you want to watch and fully comprehend it.

Angered me in the same way the '2012' angered me. But, I like very few movies; they all seem like something I saw before, with better graphics and stupid plot twists.

And btw, it was light years better than 2012, but thats still not really saying much, tbh.

You can't possibly judge a movie based on the first ten minutes. |

Lord of the Rings caught my attention, so did the Bourne movies. I'm old and have no time for plot development and that stupid stuff. (And I was totally uninterested in 'Avatar' until I saw the 'Robot Chicken' version. And still thought the movie was stupid))

Some of the acting and visuals were nice tho.

And Leo did A LOT better than in Gangs of New York. At least he had lines in Inception...

Kind of a shame. Pretty decent flick IMHO.

That said, Id recommend the OP watch the first half.

Kind of a shame. Pretty decent flick IMHO. | Youve never caught a scene from a movie on TV, found it interesting, and kept watching? Ive seen a couple movies this way, by chance. Sometimes its hard to look away when something catches your attention.
