Why or why not? How should the playoffs be run?
I personally think that it should, some people are robbed of a bowl they deserve just because a computer says so. It should be a best of 3 series to avoid any lucky wins.

The best thing for the players and fans is a playoff, but the bowl system brings in more money, so guess what's here to stay...
At least they didn't expand the basketball field to 96.

Anybody ranked higher than that doesn't deserve to be in the national title talk. You can still play these games at the historic bowl sites, so anybody still wanting to cling to this dated, unfair, and sometimes illogical BCS system can still get the feel of playing big games in those stadiums.
You can still have bowls for teams that don't make the playoffs.

Obviously, the physical toll in a game would cause a series to drag on for too long. But, the beautiful thing about (American) Football is that it's ALWAYS one game, playing for keeps, winner take all. That's what sets it apart from every other major sport. If a series in football was even close to a good idea, I'm willing to bet the NFL would have talked about it by now (granted, only until recently did they FINALLY change the overtime rule).
