Thumbs down A show of (bandaged) hands...

Sign in to disble this ad
Why is it it seems every time I ask "I cant be the only one..." it turns out I am?
Considering the number of TB members I'd like to think I'm not the ONLY one who blew up his hand this July 4th...right?

OK, "Blew up" may be a tad overstated, all my fingers are attached and working. However I did get get 2nd burns over most of the first two fingers, the thumb, and palm on my left hand. Also some bruising of the fingers and my callouses got scorched. I should be able to play bass again in 4 weeks at a guess. I got off lucky considering they went off right in hand. I had a total Christmas Story moment where I thought "Oh my god, I blew my hand up" in the voice of Ralphie as I looked at my blacked and bleeding hand. Luckily after cleaning it off I realized the skin had hardly been broken and the black washed off except on the calloused finger pads.
I gotta say it kinda hurt and scared the bejezum outta me.

The next time someone says to me "I have these home made firecrackers I found in the barn a few years ago" I may take a pass on lighting them off.

Dude! Based on your recent posts, I'd say you have enough problems without adding home made explosives to the mix. As a high school teacher of mine was fond of saying, if it seems stupid, it probably is.

Well wishes!

I think it says right on the package "Light and get away. Do not hold in hand".

Well, not this year, but I did burn up my hand pretty good as a little guy. Had burns all over one hand. Had it wrapped for 6 weeks. Not a good day.

My friend wants to come over tonight and have a roman candle war. This could possibly go terribly wrong, but it's a tradition sort-of...

Doesn't sound like a whole lot of clear thinking.

Here. What do I win?:

Recent nerve reattachment in fretting pinky. Won't be playing for a while. Not to fireworks, though.

I got second degree burns at work today. 350 degree grease is no joke.

You seem to be a little worse off. I took some splatter, you seem to have gotten the big kaboom. The oddest part about mine is that because of the adrenaline, I didn't feel it for almost 3 hours. Now it stings like holy hell.

I feel you. I have many a scar from grease burns. Some have left me with permanent numbness in my skin.

When I was about 10 years old my brother and I thought it would be a good idea to rubber band a few black cats together and set them off. We lit the fuses and ran. On explosion, two went off while throwing the third up my shorts as I was running away with just enough fuse to explode in my shorts on my inner thigh. I still have a scar that looks like a smiley face. Two eyes and a mouth.
