Mine is in Detroit: In the Boston-Edison Neighborhood on the corner of John R. & Arden Park. It is a limestone faced Italian Renessiance-Beaux Arts styled house with a slate roof built around 1915. I was in this home in 1993 when it was for sale. At that time the list price was: $139,900. 6k sq. ft. Exotic woods & plaster of almost indescribable detail. A true, artistic milestone. Every corner has handiwork of masterful detail. The 3rd floor Ballroom has this HUGE stained glass skylight...and the inlay work in the hardwood dance floor...there's 5-6 fireplaces...I could go on. The bullet-proof exterior is rather plain. But, with Michigan winters, it's probably sensible. Notice in the 2nd pic: They gotta get out there and repair that downspout! Enjoy the pics.

A side view

At the time, the Realtor informed me the 3-car garage was attached to the home via an underground tunnel. The stained glass window on the landing is as detailed as any I have seen. And I have seen many...in the region.

Post your dream house pics.

I've always been partial to this house since I helped build it. The kitchen is my favorite room.

My grandma's house has a huge kitchen and I thought hers was big, but that one is massive.

I'd be happy with pretty much anything waterfront on the central Gulf Coast with deepwater access to dock this:

The "Mary P". She's for sale locally for $3.5M. Her replacement, also named the "Mary P" was also built locally and at 122', she ran about $6M.

a home in the Austrian Alps would be my #1 pick. Ski in, ski out in the winter and mountain bikes in the summer.

That style is called; "Italianate". Almost thought it was Second Empire with the Mansard roof but the posts & trim supporting the porch are the clue.

Seems cheap for such a classic in downtown Clarkston. But with an 1870's home you'll suffer: limited closet space, coal conversion to gas heat, smaller than average bedrooms, low, low basement, if there's a functional one at all, which then begs a question: where does one do laundry?

If I had the means, I'd build a replica of the Arden Park home in the burb's. Just a better long return on investment. Plus I want a home with sidewalks, not an estate so much. Just an overmodest appearance, not ostentatious. P.S. If you walk 4 blocks west and one block north of Arden Park, you'll find Berry Gordy's Beau-Arts-Italian Renesaince home complete w/pool house & grounds is for sale; $1.3 Million.

Here's a pic:

It's on it's own 1/2 block, but there's a sidewalk out front that leads to the front door. How cool is that? A friend of mine who was attending Wayne back in the 70's delivered a pizza there & made change with Smokey Robinson! The Jackson 5 auditioned for Gordy in the pool house.

That hoodfan could pull your hair out. Or maybe yank a babe's clothes off? The cannons are a nice touch. If fences make for good neighbors, one could suppose that cannons may qualify in part as 1st responders?
