Here is my custom shop Buck and hand tooled sheath.

I also have had a Leatherman Supertool since the 90s.

No pics right now and they are both beat to *h1t. I carry either a friend's Benchmade/Emerson CQC7 (that I need to return to him someday) or a large Kershaw Cyclone. I also have an emergency tiny fixed blade that have not figured a good to carry.

Knives are strictly utility around here. Any other use just gives someone an excuse to shoot you.

I have quite a nice balisong which is Swiss made. Just for toying/tricking with tho. Never leaves the house (for somewhat obvious reasons).

TB has disappointed me in this thread with a distinct lack of Crocodile Dundee reference gifs with humorous quotes.

For the record I used to have a daily carry swiss army knife that stopped being daily carry because of relatively frequent metal detector use that made reattaching it to my keyring more trouble than it was worth.

This is my everyday knife. I use if for cutting all sorts of stuff - it even handles steak nicely. Nicely balanced, ergonomically satisfying handle, nice tooled design on the handle (just for looks, not functional).

mmm... I'll play

3 Kukris, the bottom one has been in my family since the early 1960's and I've camped with it, cut down small trees, opened coconuts, and more...

3 knives by bladesmith and friend Henry Flores:

Ebony hilt drop point hunter. Hand forged from 154CM steel with full tang construction, African ebony handles, and a nickle silver arrowhead inlaid into the handle

My first Henry knife - a bone and walnut hilt clippoint, hand forged 440C.

And most special - a gift from Henry and from my son. This was modeled on a pistol-hilt mongol dagger. Hand forged 5160 steel with a differential temper, 8.5 inches long and double edged. The handle and sheath are maple burl, fittings are nickel silver.

The blade is 4 1/4" long, made from CPMS30V. The frame is titanium with carbon fiber scales.

Very nice collection you have there!

I imagine a custom knife like that will run about ...?

Oh, what's the best way for a regular guy to sharpen stainless?

I think I'm turning into a knife geek.

That can be tough. I do all my re-sharpening on fine grinding belts and a leather strop wheel. For field sharpening, away from the shop, I've had the most luck with DMT diamond hones and water. NEVER use oil! After the diamond hone, a leather strop with green polish will work well for putting the final edge on. It takes practice!! Start on some old carbon steel kitchen knives and then move on to the modern stainless blades. Some of the lower grade stainless steels like 440A are harder to put an edge on than the really good, high tech stainlesses

I have 2 machetes and a bunch of pocket knives, no pics yet because I am not fully functional enough to operate a camera at the moment.

Those are some of the more interesting pieces - over the years I've been fortunate to get some good, functional pieces.
Doing Eskrima (Filipino blade-based art) is a good excuse to have lots of nice sharps around. In fact, like basses, the trick is to NOT spend all the spending cash on sharps!

Personally, I carry a Leatherman Micra on my keyring at all times but that's about it. My father has a small collection of edged weapons, some Napoleonic bayonets and a Highland claymore being some of the more notable pieces. No photos though, sorry...

For those who are into knifemaking, my mother sent me this link a while ago - her side of the family has strong connections to the (now heavily diminished) Sheffield steel industry and it's nice to see that there's still some of it still alive:

I've had some training in the Pikal style (reverse grip, edge in). It seems to work best for me. I designed a Pikal style knife that actually caught on pretty well with the people skilled in that dicipline. It's an odd looking knife with one SINGLE intended use
