Yep, started about 4 days ago, the coughing, sneezing, stopped up nose/runny nose. Then started losing my voice, then one of my ears stopped up, then lost my voice and uncontrolled coughing spasms that caused me to ache from it. So today I went to the ER, my boyfriend and daughter patiently waiting for me. They took me in pretty fast, got checked, got two shots in the booty (steroid and antibiotics) and Rx script for acetaminophen with codeine (ooooohhh boy! ) and amoxicillin. Both meds are liquid to make easier swallow.
The diagnosis: acute bronchitis (aka bad chest cold) and swollen lymph glands. So got orders of rest and plenty of liquids.
My loving boyfriend bought the meds for me. I tell you what, it's true love when he risks his own self of getting my cold and to buy my meds for me! Even carried my purse and laptop bag inside! I am lucky to have support like him!
Sickness isn't gonna stop me from going to his gig later tonight tho... no way! If he can risk himself for me, then I will to support him! I just bundle up good and stay away from humans I like and hang with the ones I don't! hahaha! j/k
I just sit in the back of the club.
no alcohol for me, just sprite. Which is fine with me, not up to drinking anyways!

Eat lots of red pepper. Anything spicy.

I'm not joking, it really really helps.

Aim for cayenne peppers. The capsaicin actually has anaesthetic properties.

god, I know sort of how you feel. I have been battling a sinus infection for the last four weeks. I think I got a new record for the amount of antibiotics. 4 in four weeks! My mom took me to an ENT on wednesday because I had a massive headache, what ended up happening is that when we tried to self medicate was actually making it worse. Instead of letting the sinus infection thin and drip out, we concreted it in there more, causing a massive build in pressure..... The head ache was so bad I had to take a loritab.
I am currently on an antibiotic, a steroid, a steroid nose spray, and a double regiment of mucinex D..... Its terrible.....
I hope you feel better!!

You might want to try a netty pot to keep your sinus' cleaned out (it really works). http://www.ehow.com/how_2167016_use-netty-pot.html

It's funny to hear "At least you have TB " in a thread about being sick

Yep, 'tis the season. I'm on high doses of L-Lysine, zinc, B-12, C, echinacea, and multi-vitamin. You have to disorient the germ, make it regret it entered your system.

I hate to say it, but ya, the netty pots really do work if your sinus's are plugged. Kinda gross, but stick with it.
