I recently had to reinstall iTunes after a crash.
The problem: There's a particular podcast I really like, and I have always kept all the old episodes on my iPod. However, when I resubscribed to the podcast, most of the older episodes were gone from the site, and the last time I synced, it removed all the older (nonexistent) episodes from the iPod.
I thought this wouldn't be a problem since all the old podcasts are still in the iTunes library on my hard drive in the "Podcasts" directory. Unfortunately, I can't seem to load them up onto my iPod even though they're still on my hard drive because they don't show up as existing on the original site because I had to resubscribe.
How do I fix this?

Yes, I really love them enough to go through the hassle of a command line app. Do you know where to find this app?

Not sure if there is a PC equivalent, but then again, why would anyone want to use a PC?

I couldnt find an equivalent - however you might be able to find an answer on www.ilounge.com forums as they are pretty good at iTunes stuff.
I have to go now - have to get to a wedding in Paris - so will be offline for a few days.

Imagine an mp3 player that acts as an external hard disk, that allows you to simply drag and drop items onto the player, with no risk of a computer crash meaning you need to "resync" the player to your computer! Some of them will even allow you to create playlists and arrange stuff by artist and genre (just like an ipod, and provided you've tagged the files corrcetly).
My friends and people I know often have all sorts of odd problems with their iPods -- then it breaks...and they get a new one!
Had my iRiver H320 for 3+ years, and never had a single more than minor problem. Recently upgraded the battery and HD, and now it's going even stronger
Sorry for trolling, but I really don't understand why people stick with iPods after having so many problems with them. Imagine if this happened to something important! What on earth is it thinking, just "removing" items from your player?! But just ignore this post if you like iPods. They do the job, but I have a really strong dislike of them

The only issue it has is over the years it's lost it's battery life (it still has decent life, but definitely not what it used to be), but that's an easy fix.

Sick! 0_o (up quite a bit from the 8hrs with default firmware/battery :P)
Go for it, it's definately worth it! And stick a new HD in too
