you can - the ads try to "intelligently" pick appropriate ad material that might be relevant to the topic in the thread.
here's something that will really make you popular with the admins/mods - deliberately lace your posts with particular words that might bring up inappropriate ads.
and then make a stink about the ads.  i personally would be really amused by this. of course, i'd also probably ban someone who tried it, but still.

We tried this for about 3 hours on our knife and gun forum and decided to get rid of it. We put a "hot thread" banner up in it's place. No revenue but certainly more useful. |
