I think some things benefit from being below the typical 70'ish room temperature, so I have no problem using a whiskey stone or two to bring the temp down just a touch if it enhances taste. It's all personal preference, which is why I'm annoyed by people who constantly tell me I'm doing something wrong, or my favorite line, which is "Yeah, I used to like <whatever it is your drinking> too until I tried such and such. You'd never drink that stuff again if you could try it, but it costs $8,975.56 per bottle." |

I just wish people would keep their opinions to themselves sometimes. | Well, the scenario above makes sense... not wanting to put yourself in a specific situation where people can embarrass you because you're "with" them.
Next time work harder to change the subject, or find new dining buddies. |

We've been talking about doing an event with our local college. We did a great showcase last year (Doug Johns was the headliner), but are talking about adding a gear component to it next time around. And of course, I keep thinking about just having my own deal, too... It'll happen! |

I don't travel much anymore, so I'll have to put my money where my mouth is to get there. It would be cool to meet a bunch of the guys in that area though so it would be money well spent. |

why refrigerate something that has been enjoyed since long before refrigeration? | Just see what you can get your hands on? Ziltoid may also be able to help point you in the right direction, may be a different region of Canada but probably have more of an idea than the rest of us who are outside.
Temperature has been around 2C today (~35/36 F). Some things were naturally refrigerated (river stones also used to be used to cool whisky apparently).
Lower temperature helps tame the alcohol. Though it'll taste different at different temperatures.

Talisker, Ardberg, Glenfiddich, Bowmore, Dalwhinnie, Glenmorangie, Highland Park, Isle of Jura, Laphroaig, Oban, Balvenie are some of the good distilleries they carry.
The Talisker 10 and Glenfiddich 15 seemed to be in every LCBO I entered in October when I was in Ottawa, unlike most other which varied from place to place. Can't go wrong with either. |

I just got done with a bottle and forgot how tasty it was. Now I have to find another bottle of Aberlour 18 or Mortlach 16 for her. I'm still looking for 2 bottles of Rosebank 21, one to keep and one she can drink.

Don't know if that's any use.

Most of the $35-$55 dollar 'big sellers' are there (Balvenie 12-18, Macallan 10-15, the full Glengmorangie line, Laphroag (not sure how anyone can drink that... I guess I'm a wuss ). Dalwhinnie 15, a couple of Obans, etc., etc., etc.
Pretty impressive! I'm actually liking the Dalwhinnie 15 quite a bit. Kind of a 'peat lite' sort of scotch I guess (I'm surely no expert), but nice touch of 'smoke and peat' without killing you with it. Affordable, drinkable! Still love the Glengmorangie Quinta Ruban.

When I'm in Quebec I always refer to the SAQ as the "sack." As in: "gotta go down to the sack for a bottle of wine!" Juvenile I know, but I get a charge out of it.
Not being able to get beer in a corner store is something that bothers me about Onterrible.
Talisker = yum!
Lagavulin is still my favourite, though.
