Slow Windows 8 boot time
My cousin called me tonight and she has an interesting computer issue. A few weeks ago she left for a cruise and turned her computer off and unplugged it from the power strip. When she got back, she plugged it in, booted up, and now it's booting very slow. She said it takes about 5 minutes to reach the "login" screen and after she enters her name and password, it's another 15 minutes until she's loaded up. Once she's booted though, all seems to be working well and running normal. The computer is new as of April and is running Windows 8. I'm sure simply unplugging the computer isn't the cause of this but I'm hoping to get some ideas before I look at it tomorrow night. She did tell me it came with Norton AV but the guys as Best Buy gave her something else so she was running two AV programs at the same time; again, doubt that's the cause but I wanted to clear up any conflicts anyway. Any thoughts on what to look for to start out? Unfortunately, those are all the details I have for now until I look at it tomorrow.
