Surely I'm not the only one, How do you guys go about doing it?

I'm pretty mobile all day at my job, luckily I have a laptop with onboard wireless, I've got WIFI hot spots all over town! NO need to worry about network administrators.

Rock On you Talkbass Work Rebels!

Sneaking? Unless a chief comes walking in, I'm the boss... So I don't sneak... Most of the time... Always have work stuff up on another screen... Sometimes I even use it...

It's a non-factor in my workplace. As long as you get your job done, people don't much care if you surf the Net--or work at home, as I'm doing today.

No sneaking here. If they want to fire me, they'll have to find a better reason.

I have a pretty laid back job..

As long as I get my work done (which has been quite a bit lately) I can get away with surfing and "listening" to movies/music. I am currently "listening" to The Matrix.

I have already been talked to a number of times, if I wasn't so good at my job and CNC programmers weren't in such short supply I might stop......

You have but to ask, though I may or may not answer... Us network admins have to stick together too.

At work now BUT after "normal" hours whatever that is. Being "Salary Exempt" means you just get the stuff done but the "PC Use" policy says lunch and "non-working hours" are OK.

Things used to be different but a few tools showed up that allow logging everything and one vicious program called "Surf Control" that flags good and "bad" sites to a log file with your name on it.

So only KNOWN safe sites are viewed from work now at "legal" times.

I LOVE bass and love TB but 3 people depend on me to provide for those nasty habits like living indoors and using money to buy food and stuff SO it ain't worth getting unemployed.

Quick question. Is this Surf Control something they had to install on your computer or is it from some server elsewhere?

Just out of curiosity.

It was blocked for a while at my job. I think it was because the word ass was in the title. One day I tried hitting the site, and it let me through. Yay for me!

My boss is laid back, so he doesn't mind as long as we get our work done. Plus, we're on salary. If it were ever an issue to where it was blocked again, I could remote into a server in our DMZ and surf from there.

We go through corporate servers and they seem to have this installed at the local sites's server(s) as well(not on my PC). Here:
