So, anyone else have nothing to do on Christmas?

DISCLAIMER: This isn't a sympathy thread. I grew up in a family of Jahovah's Witnesses and therefore don't really have any opinion at all on the joys of Christmas, and when I was a kid my dad always got me gifts so I never did feel left out. I just... never did the whole Jingle Bells, Christmas tree, presents opened Christmas Day thing.

This year is no exception. I already bought my gift, my new love, a Fender MArcus Miller, and at this moment have every intention of sleeping late on all three days I have off for Christmas and maybe vegging out on my couch. And I'm ok with that.

Anybody else in the same boat?

I don't really do Xmas so much, and given the choice I would like to relax with a couple of friends and watch some films, drink some beers and listen to some music.

Unfortunately I have realised everyone else enjoys Xmas a lot more than me so I make the effort for them. I suppose I quite enjoy going round and giving presents to people, the rest of it I could do without.

Sorry all of your Christmas days have been ruined.

I don't have anything in particular to do, but there will be much rejoicing with the 360 and a big dinner on the cards.

Ugh, having the opposite problem isn't any better. My family wants me all day, my boyfriend's family wants him all day, which means we don't get to spend it together or we rush back and forth between houses. I'd like to say "eff you all" and just go away with my BF. No one is flexible, and I need to clone myself a few times to make it work. It's nice to be wanted, but I thought this was the season for sharing!

I revel in having a quiet Christmas. We'll have the family (me, wife and two daughters) together and enjoy it, and I enjoy having absolutely nothing I HAVE to do for some days.

If you have no friends or family to get together with and want to make Christmas more meaningful, donate time at a shelter or do something else that helps others...much better than sitting around feeling morose.

I played one of those Marcus Miller Jazz basses last night, funny enough. Those have a really nice sound. Happy xmas to you.

Yeah, I'll probably loll around all day, and BBQ myself up a feed, and read a book but otherwise have nothing planned. Probably won't buy myself a gift either as I don't have an idea what I want.

I have slowly been able to extricate myself from most of the holiday festivities. At the ripe old age of 23, I still go back to my folks house for Christmas, but just for a few days. I don't have to go around and see every single person of blood relation within 75 miles like I did when I was younger. Now, it's mainly to hang out with friends, hit up the few decent bars in town, and try to organize some random jam sessions with whoever is in town.

So I guess the nothingness (or notmuchingness) I have to do on Christmas is more voluntary.

I get together with my mom's side of the family the night before, celebrate with my family the next morning... of course its sort of ceremonial anymore, we stopped getting up early once me and my sister quit waking up early to wake them up, but we might run into problems this year since we'll be getting up even later, and we go to my dad's parents house usually around 1-2 pm the day of...

I might just ask the gf if she wants to go to my family functions with me... we've been dating for around 4 months now... I like her if I'm going to keep her, it is probably a good idea for her to meet the rest of the family...

Naw, not ruined. Like I said, I've never actually done the whole Christmas thing save for a christmas jazz gig or two.
