I spent my 600 bucks on a Warmoth Bass body. i guess I did my part to boost the economy. Something tells me that the plan didn't work...

It is a government plan, of course it didn't work.

So what did your government do? Just gave everyone $600 in and effort to stimulate the economy?

Where did they get the money? Surely they didn't print extra for it?

The economy confuses me.

I assume they'll get it from credit or government loans. The only other way to get it would be taxes at the end of the year, but I've heard that isn't going to happen. So I would assume loans. Anyway, I don't really know anything about this sort of thing.

I do know, however, that I spent it on my credit card debt. I think a lot of people joined me on that one. So overall, it was a failure, I'd say. The economy isn't necessarily dropping into the pit of hell, but it's not like we saw any differences with the Stimulus Payments either.

Also, I think a good portion of the nation spent their Stimulus Payment's on the new iPhone...

i'd say it somewhat worked, but only time will tell. i took a trip to chicago, bought a few things for around the house and put the measly remainder on previous debt with my family's. even for those that only paid off credit debt, it is still more money in their pockets in the long run in interest saved, which will mean more money to put back in to the economy....

Work? As in their claimed purpose? I doubt it.

Whether they work at their true goal, of pleasing voters before the election remains to be seen.

I spent part of mine on a Mesa shock rack, the rest I'll blow at Rollercon/ Mmm hundreds of rollergirls, and dozens of refs.

from what I have read a lot of economists said it wouldn't work because most people were going to pay off past debt (like credit cards), which they said doesn't really help the economy all that much.

The economists had no idea of GAS and how it affects the economy for it's victims...

If you ask me, it would've been better off going to college students who are already on a tight budget, and can blow $600 in a heartbeat on new Wii's, Xboxes, and most aren't smart enough to put it towards debt.

Me? Would've had new pipes on my Harley

Probably not. Most people I know either spent it on worthless crap they didn't need, or to put towards debt on worthless crap they didn't need.

But that was the whole point. Theoretically it was an extra dallop of disposable income which would go into the US economy as people bought stuff that they had been holding back on due to the economic downturn.

I know my stimulus check was spent on American products. A downpayment on a new fretless by an awesome luthier in New Hampshire. Check my sig, it will be just like the first one but with a zebrawood top, mac ebony "pickguard" and a bubinga body. And of course a conspicuous lack of frets.

Mine hasn't helped me at all. I'm still arguing with my soon-to-be ex about it. She says that she wants a full half of it, and I'm saying that since she's paid no child support on our two year old after throwing me and him out of the apartment we were in since the $10 she gave me for diapers in February, she shouldn't get any of it.

Other people's have helped me though, since my sales at the store went up because a lot of people spent theirs on porn and adult novelties, so my boss decided to give me a raise.
