i just sold a bass on ebay and the guy paid. but it looks like paypal will hold the money up to 21 days in case of a dispute. they basically want me to ship it before i get paid.
is this correct?
i think thats messed up

On a side note if the guy paid, you should ship immediately IMO. |

I understand where they feel they need to "police" sellers, but they are making money off of them and should be reconsidered. But, in their defense, they must be losing money to "chargebacks" and possibly don't have the ability to recoup it or don't want to fight it back from sellers. Stinks all the way around.

| | | | I think entering a tracking number into Ebay will also free up the money. Check the box next to the item then click add tracking at the top of your sold items list. |

F paypal | I've never been a seller on eBay. I've only been a buyer. So you're saying that if I don't leave feedback in a timely fashion that I'm holding up the seller from getting paid?
I mean, for the record, I don't leave feedback until I have received and inspected an item--but I try to leave feedback within one day of receiving an item.
BTW, I'm pretty sure this is in the wrong forum. Probably should be in Off Topic.

The bank tried holding the money so they got credit for the transaction... Not sure what really happened there! But, I have been using paypal (off and on) for a long time now, and this is news to me!

I have over 260 positive feedbacks and many more positive eBay experiences than negative ones, frankly no negative ones, just a few difficult ones, but I can see especially in today's eBay world that it isn't for everyone. I feel like eBay has lost it's throne to Craiglist and classifieds for like here on TB but for used gear and is intended for general audiences these measures are safeguards for both consumer and seller, though not always seen as safeguards more like obstacles.

One example is if you have not sold anything in a few months, they will hold the money, because maybe somebody hijacked your Ebay account. It doesn't matter if you have thousands of feedback points, 100% positive. It doesn't matter if "they never did that to you before".
Read the current terms of use on Paypal. It's a drag to read, but you'll learn some important details. |

| | | | Yeah screw that. There is no way I would ship a guitar or bass or anything for that matter until the funds are in my account.

The buyer paid you in good faith. He's not holding up your money. Holding up the bass is jacking the buyer around.
