Ummmm, no. It means that you put friends before women, who are always replaceable, (unless it's your wife or girlfriend).

If it were my friends, we would both stay away.

Kinda cute really.

If she ends up going out with the OP before his friend can get in there, she falls into the girlfriend category, so, it's all good aye?

This can be funny or this can be serious - it really depends on the state of your relationship with your friend and how competitive you both are, respectively. If you both can handle it, however it might go, then let whatever happens, happen. But if things get serious with this person and one of you gets hurt feelings, it will strain your relationship with your friend. Ego will not be a friend to either of you, here. So, speaking from experience, tread cautiously if you truly value your friendship with your friend: even the most solid friendship base will be tested with something like this.

If a friendship can't handle some competition, I wouldn't say it's all that solid.

It's not like someone going after someone elses wife or long term girlfriend . . .

Of all the women around, you two had to choose the same one? Maybe your buddy should shop at a different WalMart.

This is obviously the correct approach to such a quandry.

In reality, neither one of you really has much of a say-so in her choice. I'm betting that she picks door number 3, and both of you end up friend-zoned.

Bingo.

Here's the thing. I don't know how old you are. I don't know how long you guys have been friends. The short answer is, it all depends.

1) Is this "just another cute girl" or love at first sight?
2) How long have you guys been friends and what have you been through together?

My best friend and I have been through a lot together. I wouldn't trade him for anything. I refuse to even store his fiance's number in my phone because I don't even want the appearance of crossing any lines. And I play bass for her a lot.

However, when I met my wife for the first time, I knew she was my wife. Once we got to know each other just a little bit I would have trampled my own brother if he had gotten between me and her.

So there are degrees of everything. I don't think we have enough to go on. Things aren't always black and white, yes or no, do or don't.

If you guys have been through a lot, and this is just another cute girl, then walk away (he should too). If you guys are just buds, and you think this girl could be "the one", then go for it quick before you lose her!

All Im gonna say...

Its okay

"It's OK to put us in a three-way
It's not gay when it's in a three-way
With a honey in the middle there's some leeway
The area's grey in a one, two, three-way "

This thread is relevant to my interests at the moment, good advice indeed. Although in my case I have been growing to really dislike my friend in recent months. (unrelated to this topic though)

As long as there isn't a Newton's cradle situation or a crossing of swords, it's all good.

The Eiffel Tower, however, is acceptable.
