So, how about them watches?

So, how do you feel about watches? Do you use one, or do you just use your cell phone? And if you do own one, is it a basic watch you can abuse, or have you put down some cash to get one of the expensive crafted automatics?

I just put few hundred bucks into a new Seiko, when my old cheapo broke down - I wanted something with a bit better quality for daily use. I like watches, and for me it's a practicality issue too, since I do some lab work.

I had to sell my Omega last year when I hit some hard times (just married, wife couldn't find a job, etc..).

I'll be buying a new one at some point next year. My grandfather was a watchmaker, so I appreciate the good ones.

I like original ways of displaying the time. I love me *some* Tokyo Flash watches, as they are both a fashionable item, and a watch when needed.

I hate having to dig into my pocket to figure out such basic information. For everyday I use a Nike watch because it's waterproof so when I sweat it's fine. I also have a sweet leather Fossil watch, and if I'm getting really classy I'll pull out the pocketwatch.

I have a pretty nice Seiko. I've had them before and decided to get one of the nicer ones. They're great watches. As long as I'm in school, I don't see a need for anything nicer.

At some point I'm sure I'll get a Cartier or something... Jacob & Co. watches are popular with the more well off kids at our school. I wish I had the means to drop 15k on a watch, but I don't :P.

I always liked how they looked and enjoyed having watches. However, I never liked how they felt around the wrist. Anytime I would be at friends I would remove my watch and forget quite frequently. Once I got my cellphone I stopped wearing the watch largely because of comfort and that I had an additional time source.

I get seriously riddled with anxiety if I'm not wearing a watch. I only take it off to shower. I even sleep with it on. This watch has lasted longet than any other I've owned, even Seiko. It's been about 6 years without a battery change or anything.

I always rock the Timex. I have a weird acidity to my sweat that turns leather into sticky goo and destroys any metal that's not stainless steel or gold.

I have a Movado that I love, but the clasp recently broke and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

My Timex recently broke. I'm lost without it.

I can't stand having anything around my wrist. I used to carry around a pocketwatch for a couple of years until I got my cell phone, and now that's pretty much all I use.

I recently started wearing one again after getting paranoid about the bad effects a cellphone in your pocket can have on other technology

Seriously, go to sleep with a cellphone next to your head. You'll wake up with a weird fuzzy feeling in your head. Can't be healthy...

I have a crappy $5 watch I bought from Target three years ago. It works for me but the cloth band reeks of 3 years of wrist sweat, and looks like it too.

My wife bought me a Movado Sports Edition (SE), which is not one of their higher end models, a few years ago and the band broke. I paid more to get that band replaced than I paid for any watch I've ever bought in my life, whether for me or for a gift. Few jewelers want to even try repairing them so I had a tough time finding someone who'd do it.

Sure it's nice to have a dressy watch for a formal occasion, but they're just not my thing. I only wear a watch because it's functional, not as a fashion statement, so the most expensive I've ever bought for myself is a low end Seiko. I've had more Timex's than anything.

I have a Fossil Blue, and it's served me well for 4 years. I've changed the battery once. I'll probably try something different when it tickles my fancy. Something cheap though, because I'm not a person to drop a ton of money on a watch. I know I want something that doesn't have a metal band this time around though.

Yeah. Realistically, they ain't worth what they cost! I didn't even buy mine. It was a gift from an ex g/f years ago. I'd never drop $1k on a watch! Last time the battery pooped out I had a hell of a time finding someone willing to replace it. This was back in northeast PA. I'm thinking it'll be easier to track someone down out here. I expect it won't be a cheap fix though.
