So I got contacted via email from a former TB'er **CALL TO ACTION**

Sign in to disble this ad
That basically was either banned or asked for their account to be shut down due to reselling things on here for profit.

I think they had my email from a previous transaction, can a non registered user still find out your email address?

Just curious. Thanks.

(and yes if you read this do not contact me again regarding sales in the forums)

I think this should have went into forum usage. Oops.

FWIW, I don't see any problem with buying high and selling low.

No. They must have had you 'on record' from a prior communication

No I mean buying good deals on here and reselling on here for profit within 1 week.

Kinda "slimy" as one fellow TB'er pointed out via PM earlier.

I want to say thank you for the PM's I have gotten, though I will not devulge the name of the TB'er (that is no longer active) apparently MANY people got shafted on promised shipping fees for expedited shipping and he never reimbursed them.

I am curious why there wasn't much negative feedback when checking the profile.

Interesting.

I would call on all TB'ers to leave actual feedback for transactions, even neutral, if the seller didn't fully meet requirements, and negative if they refused. It's the only way to keep the sales forums honest and keep this crap from happening again.

I would hope I have "earned" my feedback for being an honest seller, and rely on the feedback to prove the same for other TB'ers. You know if someone retaliates for no good reason with a negative feedback "just because" can't you report it to a mod?

I believe so, that would be one of the differences between here and Ebay.

I have an Ibanez Roadstar listed for 150 bucks right now. What I paid for it. I could easily sell it on here for 200 or more.

If I find a 75 Jazz bass at a yard sale for 100.00 bucks and resell it on here for 750.00 I wouldn't feel so bad. I got a good deal, and you would get a heck of a deal.

This guy was buying basses on here for the purpose of reselling them within a week of the sale.

I am passing on a good deal for the Ibanez hoping someome will play and I hope it goes into useful hands. Not someone looking to get rich off of my generosity. Like I said, making money is not the issue, taking away a good deal from a fellow TB'er to resell it on the SAME FORUM a week later for more money is a dirty practice.

Asking somoene to ship overnight and you will reimburse fees and never pay. Returning a bass to someone and advising you'd pay return shipping and never doing it. Stating you can't complete a trade due a bass having an unforseen "issue" but putting it up for sale as "perfect' the very next day.

I call that slimy and some examples of what this guy did.

Get my point?

When I see someone buying low and selling high, I buy from someone else, then I don't think about it anymore.

The shipping thing is a ripoff of course.

Whats not as bad but has happened to me a few times is when someone says that they will buy something just send them your paypal info. Ok, I do that. Then they never reply.

You don't see a problem with taking away a decent deal for a fellow TB'er so you can pocket some money?

If I see you do that or many of the other TB'ers on here see it you won't sell much on here.

I have said if I find a good deal at a pawn shop and sell it on here for profit I see nothing wrong with that because if I did do that it would be below current market value.

agreed but not enough to warrant getting butt hurt about it - its like the stock market i guess - the first guy selling gets what he wants (money) the second seller gets what he wants (money) and the buyer gets what he wants (bass) if he really wanted it he could have found the ad before him
im not taking sides or bashing u or w/e im just pointing out that some people dont have common decency or loyalty and therefore go after the almighty dollar

+1. I was close to typing the same thing, but the genius that is Blisshead has managed to word my point more concisely than my attempt at "plus one"ing the point he made, which was in fact my point, but derived independently of eachother. The only thing I can add is that I view exclamation points in an ad as a negative. The more you have, the more crap I think you might be full of. We should ban people for that.

I am confused - what is the call to action? Do we have to put a deposit down on the pitchforks and torches? Can I bring my own?

Uh, me neither. Last I checked, that's called capitalism. What's the grace period for turning something around? 30 days? 6 months? The whole concept is idiotic. I don't care it's the same day, if you get your crank bent because someone resells something you sold to them for a profit, you need to grow up. It's just business.

If someone got banned, I'm sure it was for not following through on shipping, not for "reselling things on here for profit." That's just plain dumb.

I'm really confused... Why did you get contacted? Can't you just ignore the nuisance?
