No, not because I did anything wrong. I'm in training to be a Security Officer at a University and part of the training is to get hit with pepper spray, in order to be able to carry it.

It sucked. bad. I'd never ever spray someone unless I absolutely had to.

I definitely have more respect for it, and anyone else that has had to endure it.

I've heard before that it's pretty damned awful. I hope to avoid ever finding out for myself.

We had to go through a confidence course in the army years ago. They marched us into a building then threw in some tear gas and we had to answer some stupid question like whats your SSN....backwards, before we could don our gas masks. Nasty stuff! And don't take a hot shower afterwards either, the steam will carry whats washing off your body right up an gas you all over again.

Didn't you let some dude destroy your back with paintballs for 20 bucks? Man, you've just ventured out of the cheap date zone and straight into the man whore zone. Maybe you could find something else to do for free in the coming out of the closet thread.

I've been hit by that stuff before and it sucks. I ripped my contacts out of my eyes and had to rinse them with beer. Long story...

Wow. I'm glad I never carry mine around more...I only did when I was hiking the trail, at my mom's insistance, and I never had to think about using it (well, there was that bear...)

Pepper spray is much worse than the public availability/price tag lead people to believe.

I wish anyone buying some would have to learn how much it hurts before using it like a TV remote to shoo people off.

I got hit years ago by an ex girlfiend (she was current girlfriend at the time). She was sitting in the managers booth (she was the boss) at a big chain drug store (raised about 8 foot above the floor level for surveillance & security). I stopped in to take her to lunch and while in the stairwell out of this raised office the pepper spray that was attached to her keys caught on something. As she fumbled to save/catch her keys... she sprayed us both and the assistant manager.

It sucked but was funny as heck at the same time.

They should make a similar requirement part of getting a gun license.

One of my former students was working at JC Penney's when a guy brought $400 or so of clothes to his register. So he removed all the security tags, rang the items up and put them in bags. At that point the guy leaned in and said, "I'm stealing all these clothes and you can't do anything about it."

Like most retailers the policy is NOT to stop thieves but just report it to the authorities so my student took a step back to indicate he wasn't going to try to stop the guy.

The dude pepper sprayed him anyway.

I found some while hanging out with the band recently. Thought hey, "I should spray this out the window!". The wind changed, and I sprayed myself. Funny as heck, and sad all at once

I was thinking the same thing.

Also, how about driver's licences?

I use a watered down version of it as Nasal Spray, when my allergies are kicking up. It's called Sinus Buster and works like a champ.

I haven't A/B'd the two but I can certainly vouch that the bear-strength stuff is hella nasty. (I just got a tiny residual whiff. A colleague tested his upwind and said it just about cut him in half. That guy didn't always think stuff through so well. )
