Anyways, the J.Crew suit looks better, but it could just be that the guy in the Nordtrom ad just doesnt know how to model...

| | | | I like the JCrew as well. How do you get a 15% discount? I don't think I've ever heard about that (then again never really shopped at Jcrew).

| | | | Where do you get those from and how well do they hold up? I'll probably be wearing mine 2-3 times a week during November and February and, depending on the internship I get, 2-3 times a week during the summer |

I don't wear them a ton, but they seem to be of nice quality, 100% wool. My wife loved them, which is unusual for a brand name whore.

Nordstrom's, hands down...and don't get it to fit like a second skin. Buy a size that fits well in business terms. A decent suit should last you for years.

| | | | Anyway... I ended up buying the second suit from Nordstrom. I had a $150 gift card and the whole thing ended up costing just over $400 with tax and everything. What do you guys think? |

Did you have a tailor, or folks at the store, do the hem? Check the jacket for fit?

| | | | Nordstrom does free alterations. I'm getting the sleeves lengthened a bit and the pants hemmed. I might have them take the jacket in as well but if they need to make it a lot slimmer I'll just take it to a tailor. |

| | <-- That guy looks like me, but old. | | Join Date: Aug 2002 Location: Arlington TX | | | The last time I bought a new suit, I really didn't get one I liked. I just got the best one available.
Some of you might remember from a few *ahem* posts I've made that I'm not shaped like normal people. What actually looks pretty good on me is apparently sooooooooooooo out of style for normal people. I'm really hoping double breasted suits will be back soon.
My last suit was a double breasted black suit with a fine gray pinstripe, almost like what we used to call mafia suits in the '70's, but with a more subtle stripe. It got old and tired.
I went to buy a new one because I knew I'd be putting in some pallbearer time in the next few months. All they had were three button single breasted suits. They look wrong on me.
So I now have a three button single breasted suit in a color that is somewhere between black and brown (brack? blown?). It looks better on a hanger than on me.
I guess I'm just complaining until they start making suits for people shaped like me again.
