Was just like I remember it before, like eating drywall. Not really tasty and kinda strange. I really don't get whats so funny about it, Stephen Carell is obnoxious at best, and it really don't seem to get any relevancy to anything. So you guys that like the show what are you getting out of it?

Yeah, I can find the humor in it, and it's obviously not your kind of humor. Simple as that, no need to over think things.

The humor is in the absurdity of the situations.

I don`t get the show either, but a lot of people seem to like it so there must be something there. Different strokes?

I think the show's lost a bit of its mojo the last couple seasons, but at its best, I think it's hilarious.

Yea the last couple seasons havent been as great as before. I find the humor in the awkward situations that the people are put in, not everyone finds that funny.

I find situational humor funny, but more in the manner that Seinfeld did it.

I find it hilarious. I love Micheal and Dwight's character. I guess some people dont find that kind of humour funny, but IMO its better than 98% of the comedies on TV.

It's British-style humor...very dry, very subtle. Definitely not slapstick or "baseball to the crotch" funny.

I like the characters. You have to watch a couple of episodes before you really start "connecting" with them. Once you know the characters, the situations that they are placed in become very funny.

Like someone said above, if it's not for you, then it's not for you.

As Keith said, once you know the characters and can appreciate them, the situations and plots start to get a lot funnier.

Michael's hatred for Toby, Dwight's overall awkwardness and crazy character, the relationship with Pam and Jim are what initially got me into the show.

The American version is grossly overrated (IMO), but the British version is actually pretty funny.

The American version never works for me. It still feels like its trying too hard and tends to be too outlandish.

The British one always makes me laugh though.

It's changed a lot. At first, the humor was more based on a parody of American office culture, but now it's more driven by the characters.

Not really.

The Office (US) takes the humor of the English series and adapts it to American characters. To its detriment, IMO, because American characters in comedies tend to be much more likeable:

So Steve Carell's Michael is just kind of dumb. Nice enough, but really misses this boat. Same goes for most of the characters... They don't get it, and they don't get it All The Time. That's not subtle, nor dry.
In fact, you have the two straight men (Pam and whatever his name is) who can stand there and say "hey, look! These people are dumb!!!" By having a straight man, you detract from the humor.

Gervais's Michael, on the other hand, is an impossible human to like, as are most of the rest of the cast. That's the beauty of the UK show.

This is only based on the first season of each, fwiw.

I can't find much funny in it. Leaves me cold. Same for Seinfeld - never found either one of them funny.

This season was so Pam and Jim based, and filled with drama that i really hated half the episodes the first couple (excluding Niagra) were ok and the last couple episodes were pretty good.

Often hilarious, sometimes dry, sometimes slapstick. Ridiculous characters and situations. Kinda like Seinfeld.

You either get it or you don't.

I feel sorry for those who don't.

+1

I have actually enjoyed the Brit one at times. The US one left me totally cold.
