| | | | So I went to the grocery store...

...and I filled my cart with groceries. Then I went to the checkout counter, the cashier scanned all of the items - and guess what? I WON!! I got to pay for them and take them home. I really needed the groceries, and didn't mind paying for them, so I was thrilled that I won them.
I do not understand E-bay. Why do people buy things on E-bay and then say they won them?
Weird. |

Purchase an item versus winning an item. |

I know, I was agreeing with him, I never got it that someone "wins" an item on eBay, as your still paying for it.

'Course that's all changed with the inclusion of Ebay stores and "Buy it Now", but the basic principle is still there.

That could really suck..."Sorry kids, no dinner tonight. Daddy didn't win any groceries today. G'damn last-second snipers!"
On eBay it's "Buy It Now" not, "Win It Now". If you hit the BIN button, you're not a "winner". |

I see, people "won" the auction… I guess I kinda get it. It still sounds funny to say the you "won" something that you actually bought. |

did everyone who was interested in THAT cart of groceries also place bids? Quote: |
An auction is a process of buying and selling goods or services by offering them up for bid, taking bids, and then selling the item to the winning bidder.
| The practice of winning an auction dates back to 500 BC |
