Other than being painted white it is an original car in really decent shape for it's age. The wild thing is it was purple from the factory, which was a 1967 only color for a GM. Doing some more research we've determined it's one of maybe 5 cars built with the engine/trans and color combo.... a very rare car to say the least. For now the car is in hiding waiting it's turn for a resto. |

In the 70s I hung out with a girl that had one. A beast on the hiway. Factory 8-track.
She wound up trading it for a BMW 2002. Sheesh. |

The Galaxie has been a great car and surprisingly not too hard to find parts for. Also not a rare beast so it's been a lot easier on the wallet than some of the others suggested in this thread would be. |

My dad's friend built a '40 Ford Coupe from the chassis up. His other friend built a Mercury (somewhere around '50). Ultimate mob car. They're in car shows all the time. Quote:

70 Hemi Cuda or 70 Camaro. Year of my birth.
Late 60s Camaros and Mustangs are nice, but ubiquitous.

What the heck was that movie?? | I think you're thinking of "The Car". No big name stars, as far as I can remember. The car was customised by Barris and I can't remember what it was based on. Possessed by an evil spirit and drove aroumd a small town running people down.

a good machine | A couple more points you may want to consider...
Galaxies were sold as family cars, so air conditioning was a popular option. That was a requirement for me since I live in Texas and I love my AC. Also required was a good sized trunk so I can carry my gig rig. I actually got more than I bargained for in that department, but the trunk space requirement put Mustangs, Camaros, Cudas etc off my shopping list when I went searching for my '60's cruiser. |
