got home from school, to find my mum on the steps crying... it was her birthday today and they've taken all of the expensive stuff. its a miracle I've still got this computer to rant on.

and it's definitely a miracle that I leant my basses away for a week. the guys knew what they were doing (they disassembled the catflap on the back door, and took the lock apart from the inside!) and they probably would have known how much they were worth.

its just been a crap time. I mean they even took my camping equipment which I'd borrowed from the school.

My elder bro was asleep in his room, it looks like they cleaned through all the rooms up to his, realised he was massive, and cleared off. we're just lucky he didn't wake up, because if he had... he's autistic, and things could have escalated and he could have ended up seriously hurt.

happy birthday mum

unlucky

One of my mates was robbed just after christmas once. He lost his limited edition Rickenbacker.

But that's not the worst bit - all the computers nicked had ALL his coursework on them. 6 months of uni work gone.

Good to hear your basses are ok but it's little consolation I guess

That's a really crappy feeling. Happened to me a couple of years ago - for some unkown reason (possibly because I walked in on them), they only took some cash I had lying around. Pulled everything out of all my closets and draws, and jumped out my bedroom window. Without them even getting anything I was infuriated, suspicious of anyone and everyone in my neighborhood... I still don't feel completely safe... bad, bad feeling. I live in a nice neighborhood too.

I feel for ya. Happy you didn't lose your basses. I guess you were in a sense blessed as I was. There's a thread here (I didn't read) about burglars getting killed by the homeowner. Perhaps reading that will cheer you up.

I'm sorry to hear that Techmonkey, but at least you're family are all unharmed and you're insurance should cover everything?

That said, I know a major issue with being burgled is the feeling of violation that comes with strangers rooting through your house. I hope you are able to feel safe again soon.

At least no one got hurt, as you pointed out.
That stuff can be replaced.

Sorry to hear it, man. The feeling that your own home is no longer a safe place to be is hard to deal with sometimes.

Having been through this experience myself, I can sympathise. Being robbed in any way is just horrible.

I'd like to see people doing this sort of stuff get dealt with in a way that reflects how traumatic it is for the victims.

So sorry! I hate rip offs. Happened to my family when I was a kid.

Really Bad Karma headed their way -- promise. Give your mom a hug from us at TB.

I was robbed about 10 years ago, when I lived in a horrid neighborhood. Hope you get your stuff back and sorry that your mom had to spend her birthday like this!
