Meh.
Maybe I should be more excited.
Maybe not.
I'm actually curious. How many people are excited about this? Who's been following the games patriotically (and that goes for more than just Americans)?

My mom just jumped out of her chair when Canada won the bronze in the 1500m swimming, I on the other hand was just a little excited. I like to see when Canada wins, but I am way more interested in the Winter games.

I was a heavy competitive swimmer when I was in highschool. Had dreams of the Olympics one day.
Now, i'm glad I didn't! haha |

lowsound | Yeah. He hit 8 all of three minutes ago.
I've watched a bit. I've seen a lot of soccer (I really wish we could just call it Futbol/Football like the rest of the world), and I watched the US basketball team against Spain today.
The race was just on the TV and I turned around from my computer to watch it. I mean, that's really awesome and all, don't get me wrong. That's a huge accomplishment. I just don't care that much. I just wanted to know if not being patriotic makes me a dick.

How bout we save some of this "Greatest Olympian ever" talk for someone who competes in a sport that doesn't award fifty billion medals for doing basically the same event over and over again.
Its like track and field if they had 10 different versions of the 100 meter dash. Run it regular, then backward, then on one leg, then do it on all fours, then on all fours backward...you get my point.

Its a statistically based fact, really. He has won more Gold Medals at a single Olympics than any man in history. Just saying.

He would have run an 8.9X second 100m if he hadn't slowed up.

What if Greatest of all time is just getting medals period, not depending if they're gold, or who gets the most medals in non-related events? If you love him so much I'm sure he has a girlfriend application on his myspace.

If it was Jaco saying he was the greatest of all time, there is no statistical way to measure that. Yes, that would be an opinion. Based upon numbers, he is the best. In a situation such as this where things can be compared to others, your opinion would be your favorite Olympian of all time.
