If the Vaseline doesn't work, you could be in for a relatively expensive fix. Not sure about Honda's, or even 2001 Honda's, but if the Vaseline doesn't work you'll prolly need to replace the door gaskets and that's usually a dealer item...If Honda even still makes gaskets for that year vehicle. I know you live on the West Coast so maybe the gaskets might be easier to find and if so, youmight be able to get them thru a body shop and either have them install the gasket or pay a good mechanic to install them. Not trying to give you the horrors, but that's usually the deal with 20 year old cars. The rubber deteriorates and leaks. I have a 10 year old Ford Escort and I'm getting a leaky driver's door gasket and the trunk gasket is gettin' funky as well. Best of luck. )-(

Gotcha!
Twice as good when you catch the master as his own game.

Funny part is the Honda url is real. (South Bay Honda ??)
28% off OEM Honda parts.

(No affiliation, never used them.)

You can try this trick if the weatherstrip isn't conforming to the door and body. Get a roll of 1/4 or 3/8 vacuum hose (available at any autoparts store) Take a razor and cut the weatherstrip where its not noticeable. Lube the hose and snake it into the weatherstrip. It will bring a little life back into the strip. *DISCLAIMER sometimes it doesn't work, but if the strips are shot anyway its worth the gamble for a few bucks. Don't cut the weatherstrip in half, just make a slit the size of the hose diameter. You can plug up the hole with black silicone when you're done if you like.

Take a 1 x 12" piece of paper. Insert paper between door and car door frame. If you can slide the paper back and forth "like a shoe shine action" you will find the worn out section.

My beater mustang leaks. But c'mon, the weather 70 miles north of me can't be considerably wetter than mine is. Yeah, we've had rain for a double digit days in the last two months, but we both know it'll clear up and go back to the barren desert we're used to living in.

I haven't felt a need to drop $$ on replacing the heater core I broke six years ago either. Sack up, you're not living in Portland.

Yeah, my old Jetta leaked like no other, i could feel the drips on my arm while driving, and my trunk would fill up where the spare tire was every so often. Had to replace: All the door seals, weather stripping on the roof, and the taillight gaskets: 40$. I love junkyards.

But now my newer car leaks about a quart of oil every 400 miles

Yeah, I figured it out. I have a Yakima rack system on it for my boards. The weather stripping has conformed around the mount for the gutterless mount. I know that once we get through this el niņo deal it will be alright, but I don't want my carpets to get moldy. Temp fix. Park it in the garage.

I had a slight rain leak in the weatherstrip at the top of my driver's side door. I sprayed it with some silicone lube and that seems to have corrected the problem.
