Unless you goto the chat, or you're S_D, you have no idea how much this has been bugging me.
Talkbass DOESN'T work on my computer anymore.
It'll only work if I use www.youhide.com, which I am using right now.
I've turned off my firewall, tried everything.
It works in residence. A guy four doors down can get on Talkbass No problem.
It doesn't work in Firefox, or IE.
I'm using windows.
Anyone have any idea? E-mail me, cause I won't be on here much. youhide takes forever to load.
My e-mail is in my profile. |

What OS are you using? You could try a system restore to a time when it was working and see if that helps.

I had that problem with several sites, googled them and saw that my links were different. I'm thinking I picked up a trojan of some sort that screws up the links in my bookmarks. They were literally reversed. |

My money's with Basshole's solution. Your computer doesn't know where www.talkbass.com is.
try putting http://72.32.131.249/ in your browser's address bar instead.

This is my diagnosis thus far. I've come to this conclusion based on the following facts:
-I do it right
-This enables to me enter Talkbass just fine
-You can't enter Talkbass just fine
-This is the opposite of my experience
-Which in turn means, If I do it right....
-You do it wrong!
-So in conclusion, you're doing it wrong.
-Why do I keep listing like this?
-Stream of consciousness ftw.
-You're obviously not happy about your troubles
-& I'm probably not helping
-Yet am I doing something wrong?
-No
-You are
-So, ha
-Sorry by the way
-Your situation sucks
-Good luck

My Computer, C Drive, Windows Folder, System32, Drivers, then ETC.
Delete the "hosts" file. NOT LMhosts.
After that go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, device manager and look for network adapters, delete whatever is your hardwired and wireless network adapter.
Then reboot, windows wil redetect all devices and unless your pc is completely hosed it should work.

If your computer is "timing out" that is one of two issues.
Either your internet provider is too slow. I had this happen on the road at one hotel. Most web browsers will time out if they don't reach a web site in a certain amount of time. It could also be that your internet provider is changing settings, Comcast does this a lot.
The other problem is possibly a virus is slowing you down and timing you out. Some nasty trojans can kill every program in your computer.
