So what's the deal with Talkbass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Lately I've been having a lot of issues with Talkbass loading on my browser. I'll click to open a page only to have it crash and then I'll be unable to access any area of the website for anywhere between 30 seconds to a couple minutes. Meanwhile, I'll still be able to open other sites such as Facebook, Yahoo, Google, etc... Has anyone else been experiencing this lately or is Talkbass giving me a hint that it doesn't like me anymore?

What is up with the slowness?
I started that, and it's been pretty much ignored. I just deal with it, or go to another forum once it happens.

No no, I don't care. I was just showing that I complained about it over a month ago and it's been ignored. So, I basically ignore TB when it happens :P. Probably better that this is in OT with more traffic, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was still ignored.

happens to me too every so often. It's off and on. It'll be fine then boom, nothing for a while, then it comes back online nice and strong.
It seems like someone may be rebooting the server from time to time when it starts to bog down. I dunno why it would do so though. Just a guess

I'm curious how often you guys experience these problems. Since I'm currently on summer I have quite a bit of free time to browse TB during the day, and I'd say I experience these hiccups at least 3-5 times a day. They never last long, but it's pretty annoying when you're in the middle of typing out a long response to a thread or a PM and then lose it all during one of these crashes.

I'd say I normally see one big outage where I can't even browse subforums twice a day or so. The general slowness, especially noticeable when using "Quick Reply" happens a lot more often.

I've had an issue with PMs in particular for months now. I hit the reply button and nothing happens for a good 7-15 seconds. Usually, quick replies on threads are just about instant but PMs take a bit for some reason. No page loading indicator or anything either.

When I sometimes reply it will just hang. I have to leave, refresh, sprinkle fairy dust and hope it replied and I didn't lose what I posted.

Very good, then! Carry on!

Ironically (in the Alanis Morisette sense of the term), as I was replying to this the first time, my browser cut out and I lost my reply. At least TBserver has a sense of humor!

I have given good thought about supporting this site, especially considering that I have learned some priceless things from here. I will look into that whole ordeal, and then see how my financial situations are looking, as well as methods to provide support. I am the type of person that never buys anything online... ever, I always run debit card as credit, I never give out personal info on facebook... cause if I do... they will come after me....

I've noticed this in recent times too, sometimes pages not loading or general slowness.

I have a bad habit of editing my posts right after posting. What I've noticed a lot recently is when I click on "Save" after making an edit, it will sit there with the spinning wheel thing but not actually do anything. After a minute or so if I click Save again, then it usually "takes" right away.

Noticed the same. Also, when I'm running windows media player and I go on here to type a reply, the audio will studder while I have the reply page open. As soon as I go back to another page on TB it stops.

I get it most of the time when I click on edit, or after I click submit when I'm done editing the post. Quick Reply is often far from quick. I even joke with another person how I can click on Quick Reply, retype my entire post to them, and come back to see it telling me to please wait. That doesn't happen as often as the slowness while editing.

The general slowness moving between topics and forums is on and off during the day. It will be fast the first few click arounds, then slow down to where I'll go to another page on another tab while I'm waiting.

-Mike
