So, what's happened to my blisters?

Sign in to disble this ad
Saturday night I played a show where I played a little too hard. By the end of the set, I had huge blisters on both of my plucking hands.

The next day, I tried to pick/thumb my way through as much of my second show as I could, but by the end of it, I was fingerplucking through the pain. After that set, the blisters turned a grayish color.

Now, they are both completely brown. They feel like a callous. I'm imagining it's a bunch of dried blood under the skin for some reason. Can anyone tell me what I should do and/or what it is and if it's bad?

Here's a pic for proof.

Lovely shot of the blisters, and my dorm floor.

Don't play so hard then. Take it easy for now and let em' heal. Then you'll have even stronger callouses than before.

Yeah, I've been just letting them heal, but I want to make sure the discoloration isn't anything to worry about. I'm a worry like that

I wouldn't worry, I've had it happen a few times, and I'm still alive and breathing

They aren't swollen at all. They're sitting evenly with the rest of the skin.

This happens to me all the time if I haven't played in a couple of weeks. It's nothing to worry about.

Just because I dress up for a couple of Halloween gigs as a zombie and always ask people if I can feast on their brains?

1) Don't play so hard. It's not necessary.

2) Do a search for my Talkbass post "How to tape your fingers".

You're welcome.
