So where have you found cash?

Two places, I can think of:
1. Once, at a convenience store, like a 7/11, I was paying for a slurpee or something, looked down after handing the clerk my money, and saw a wad of cash lying on top of the magazines in front of the counter, and picked them up as if I had dropped them. It was about $44.

2. This morning, riding down a very wet street very early in the morning. Someone the night before (apparently) had dropped $12 on the street, wrapped up with some receipt, on a downtown street full of retail shops. A homeless guy half a block down eyed me as I circled around on my bike and picked it up. I gave it away.

3. (EDIT) I just recalled a third instance from a couple months ago. As I was waiting behind a lady at an ATM, she dropped a crisp $20 bill on the ground from the wad she had just withdrawn, and started walking away. I had to tell her she dropped one. The look on her face when I told her what she had done was worth the cost of it to me.

Once, at a cash machine, I found a wad of $20s that the machine had apparently spit out & they got hung up in the machine's cowling. I looked around & nobody was anywhere nearby, acting like they'd just been screwed over or anything. I waited a few minutes, then pocketed my windfall.

In a coat pocket or jeans pocket. It feels great to put on a jacket I haven't worn in awhile, reach into the pocket, and find some cash.

I remember dropping $260 in a pub one time, kind of evens it out karmically by my calculations. I hope whomever found it had a nice weekend though, everyone get's lucky now and again.

Years ago, (like 26 years!!), I was driving with my brother down to California... When we got there, I could not find the $300 that I had brought... I tore apart his truck, everything I packed, looked through all the trash... No dough... About 8 months later he showed up at my door with the money... apparently, it had fallen into the heater vent, so when it got cold enough that he actually used the heater he heard this flapping sound, and there was my money

On the finding side, I have found money laying in the street, on the floor in a bar, and once found $7 in a library book... Found it in pockets, the washer, the dryer... It's always a cool feeling!

When I lived in Scotland, I found $20 pounds in the street, about 1979 or so. It was about 40+ bucks. I took it to the Police Station with my dad and turned it in. After about 2 weeks, no one claimed it so It was given to me. Good lesson learned, thanks dad.

Like Mike said, I love finding cash in a jacket I haven't worn in a while.
I've found it on the street probably 8-10 times in my life, never more than $20.
And, of course, the desk drawers of my coworkers after hours is a good place to look.

What I've found:

A $50 on the floor at a grocery store
Various cash in pockets, jackets, etc.
A $1 bill under my wiper blade (every car in the parking lot had one)

$20 under a bush at a McDonalds. I bought $20 in dollar lottery tickets and kept going back for more each time I got a winner, turning that $20 into $180 by the end of the day.

A few years ago, I was using one of those self-scan registers at the grocery store. My total came to, let's say, $19.40. I put in a 20. 60 cents change, right? I grabbed the change & pocketed it; then the receipt & the bills from the changer below the receipt printer, and my bags.
I was at my car before I realized that I shouldn't have gotten bills with my change. I counted it; $98. I'm guessing someone bought something to break a hundred and forgot their change.

At a strip club once many moons ago, one of the girls dropped about $400 in tips right by me. I tapped her on the shoulder and said "you dropped this by my table". She snatched it out of my hand, shot me a "drop dead" glare, counted it real quick, and walked away.

If only I could have completely predicted that reaction, that's one person I would have never given that back to!

I thought I had lost my license the other day, and was all set to got to the DMV to get another one when I pulled on a pair of jeans I hadn't worn in a while. Lo and behold there it was.

But I always liked putting on mom or dad's jacket as a kid and finding a few bucks in there. Would give the jacket back and tell her/him about the cash, and they'd let me keep it. I've found $100 slipped into my jacket or wallet by my grandpa when I was heading off on trips or to college. That was always really awesome.

Once when I was probably 12 or so I found a wallet at the grocery store with a green card and stuffed full of money. Probably the guy's entire pay check. I turned it in at the office and I always hoped that the person I turned it into was honest and the guy got all his cash back.

My mom found $800 rolled up on a Louisiana casino floor. She waited around and saw one couple (it was first thing in the morning) and casually chatted them up. It wasn't theirs. She kept it.
