Basement was flooded to about an inch (not too bad I guess). Rain gutters blown down.. two trees down, one of which took out the neighbor's fence. And in a feat of delicious karma, a tree branch took out the rear window of a car belonging to the one of the college-going party animals next door.
Some pics coming as soon as I download load them.

| | That's the way uh huh uh huh I like it.. | | Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Robbinsville, NJ | | In the process of cleaning up.. This was such an odd storm. There was very little attention paid to it at all either before or after, yet is probably the worst storm I've seen in this area in about 20 years when you factor in the wet ground, flooding and high winds.
The storm hit us pretty hard with up to 70 mph winds in some cases. Couple that with the ground being soggy from all of the melting snow, and we have literally what amounts to hurricane damage. For you guys down in hurricane ally this is probably laughable, but for us who rarely get slammed.. this sucked..
Small tree and bunches of branches everywhere:
Pretty big pine tree that decided to fall over, take out a section of the neighbor's fence and end up partly in their swimming pool (which you really cant see in this pic but it's ugly, trust me..)
Wife, vainly showing leg and son walking on what was my makeshift golf green in summer, now actually concave for some bizarre reason:
#3 son tap dancing on my beloved torn-to-shreds home golf green:
All rain gutters have been re-attached, basement pumped and shop-vac'ed out, yard and property are going to take a lot of time to clean up though... for me to get the ground raised up again, I'll need all sorts of back-fill dirt and it will need to be aggressively reseeded. Which, I probably wont even bother doing as we're looking to move by fall.. oh well.

Beyond that is a baseball field and some woods off to the left, so I seeded a section of the yard really densely (you cannot at all tell from these pics) about 200' out, put in a hole and would just chip shots onto it during the summer. You can't really drive anything at that distance of course because there are still houses within driving range but for chipping and putting it was awesome. But for some really freaky reason it's now concave.?? Weird

I don't have a yard as long as that, but what I'm looking to create is a putting green with sand trap, and rough around it and a mini teebox (more for decoration and show really). It would really just be a chipping green with a total chip of probably 20 yards or so. It would be fun to have friends over for beers and just chip shots in the hole. Any recommendations?
That concave could be partially caused by the roots of the trees you have there. |

That concave could be partially caused by the roots of the trees you have there. | That's by far more high speed than what I have. Sounds awesome though. Mine was very low tech - just a makeshift thing, I didnt do much to it other than seeding a portion of ground that sat slightly higher.
I did actually think about a sand trap but our ground here is almost pure clay and water does not drain very well at all. Without some sort of french drain underneath, the sand trap would just become a mosquito nursery. That, plus with 3 kids and a cat it would forever become the sandbox that holds 1000 plastic toys soldiers, toy trucks and cat poop..
But regardless the whole chipping green thing is/was a blast. I would have friends or my dad over and we would chip a few, have a few beers, it was great. My two older sons would also play this "one hole" golf game and challenge other people so whether you go high or lo-tech I highly recommend it, it'll be an absolute hit.

I was up in the mountains with my girlfriend and I was up to 3 feet in snow at some points! Inches in others! Of course, this was all left over from a few weeks ago. It was so cold I barely needed a jacket!

Snapped off some 12" - 18" trees, splintered a few.
Blew down 5 sections of fence, snapped off the posts at ground level.
Easy to see which way the wind was blowing.

He is in Seaford LI, which is about a 40 minutes away. We got to his house, and sure enough a big tree was on his roof. It made 2 small holes in his roof. We were able to get some of the tree off and patch the holes with ply wood. Not fun with 60 mph winds when you're afraid of heights.
Also had some ceramic roof tiles come off my roof and land on my car hood. |

Lots of downed trees, a utility pole is snapped in half the next street over from me, and there's an oak tree laying across the road a block away. We lost our water for about 5 hours but amazingly we have power and fortunately no water in the basement.
