Smile So who has a Pathfinder?

So I'm asleep about a month ago when I hear a knock at the door. As a college student, my first instinct is to ignore it...repeatedly. Turns out it was a cop who proceeded to show that the city I live in dropped a frickin' boom off a land waste truck on my Pathfinder... A sad day indeed. It's being worked on at the moment but I wondered if anybody had these cool vehicles...minus serious damage.

Basically a huge claw that picks up crap off the ground like limbs and such. It got detached and made for a bad day. Just look up land waste truck. I really didn't know what they were until this.

Sorry to hear about that.

I own one and at the moment I'm not the happiest Pathfinder owner. Serious frame rot in the rear of the vehicle. Inspection is due this month. I already have a replacement vehicle, but for a 1995 it has low millage, still runs great and the four wheel drive is awesome when the bad weather hits. I still should be able to get a few grand for it, but it's not worth much the way it is. Seems to be a very common problem with this generation pathfinder too. I'm going to go to a frame restoration place this weekend to see what it will cost me.

The real kick in the nads is I work for Toyota. The Tacoma pickup has a very similar problem and Toyota has issued a recall. Toyota is buying back all their Tacoma's with this problem at one and a half times the book value. I've seen some customers bring in some real beat up trucks and get decent money for them.

So, how does one start a class action lawsuit?

EDIT:
Oh yeah, before I found out I put new brakes on all the way around. New C.V. axles and tuned it up. The Tires aren't that old either.

That is strange because my dad bought a 96 and had no problems. I have a 99 and I don't know of any known issues. I guess I like Nissans... Still curious who has 'em

I think it's mostly people like me that live in an area where we get snow. The upper east coast is rough on vehicles. Still though, there seems to be a whole lot of people with the same problem. I just think anyone looking to get an older Pathfinder should pull the rear wheel and take a good look at the frame before buying one.

My post is somewhere in the 91-105 page.

Otherwise I think Nissan makes good cars and trucks.

Actually, I did get a recall notice about salt on roads may rot the frame of the fuel tank, but since I live in the south I didn't worry about it. Hmmm...

Really. I never got a recall notice, but I'm not the original owner so I may not be on their list. I did contact Nissan via their website as they do have a section for recalls and seconded hand owners, but never heard back from them. I think I may be calling a dealer tomorrow. Wish me luck!

*Raises hand*

I have a '96 LE. The person who owned it before me put a running board on it and rims (all of which is now a little shoddy). And upon having a guy change the timing belt, I was notified that the vehicle had been totaled some time ago. It's not in phenomenal shape, but it gets the job done.
