i have an 06 prius and a 94 camry. while i've been fairly pleased with the vehicles, i'm done with the company. not only are the dealership service areas in the atlanta area that i've dealt with completely -corrupt- and -incompetent- (drove away from one with the lug nuts on the two back wheels loose and falling off - another customer had to run after me and flag me down before i got too far - 4 lug nuts fell off the wheels and another 3 were about to. and that's just one episode, there are more.) but this shows that that kind of attitude is institutionalized in the company.

so yeah. no more toyotas in casa turner.

I'm guessing now is a good time to beat up [bargain down] a Toyota dealer.

I have had two Toyotas and they have been incredibly reliable - I bought both used, so I have not had anything to do with Toyota dealers as such and bought mine from small family businesses I know!

I would do the same again as the statistics show that they are the most reliable cars available!

I own a Toyota Corolla

I owns none of thems, 2007 Saturn Vue: Failures: 0 perfect powertrain...it's a Honda in GM skins. My first Vue: failure 1, a poorly designed clip in the shifter. Big deal. First Saturn 99 SL: failures: 0
I'm done with Saturn now my car is an orphan, they've shut down the brand I've had the greatest of luck with, they took off plastic, made them heavier cars with steel...idiots! Simple car, fair price, clean factory(took the tour) and good people...never once was hassled by Saturn, great service, etc....I hate GM!

My step dad has a 00 Toy, I can't believe the thing still runs, it's a piece of junk, he's ran it into the ground and looks like hell.

LOL Fix or repair daily. I am not a FORD fan but they are sure happy to see Toyota have all these problems.

I was surprised to see Jaguar so far down Bruce's list. I had a buddy that had one and he couldn't keep it on the road. Know why Jaguar doesn't make TV's? They can't make one that leaks oil.

2003 Toyota. Solid car. I'm hoping this means I can get a good deal on another (used) Toyota on the cheap.

Perhaps in the 70's and 80's, but not any more. From Consumer Reports in Oct. 2009: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...y-findings.htm Let's also keep in mind that Ford is the single domestic car maker that did not accept government bailout funds.

The wife had a 2003 Highlander, and it was a greet car, but we traded it in for a new Ford Edge in a couple of years ago because we got a great price on it and it had more power, leather, and a sweet stereo. After nearly 30K miles, we've had ZERO problems with it.

I had a '98 Mustang and had a minor issue (driver's side window switch) but it was one of the most reliable cars I've ever had. I put over 80K miles on that one before trading it before our son was born. Now I drive a 2009 GT/CS and love it.

I have an 08 prius. My local dealership is pretty awesome and helpful, so maybe you should drive to KC to get yours serviced, John. I'm not going to sell my prius or anything, but it is a little nerve wracking. I probably won't buy a toyota in the future, but not because of recalls, but because nothing else they make fits my needs.

I have an 06 4Runner. Love it! No problems so far. Before that was a Honda Accord. I'll never own another GM product. I bought a crappy car (99 Malibu) from them. When I started having problems, they told me that I wasn't having problems. I was changing the brakes literally every 5 months. I showed receipts and the told me that I wasn't having an issue without even looking at the car. I understand that every company makes a lemon occasionally but to tell me that I'm not experiencing any problems when I obviously am, that's too much!! They tried to tell me that changing brakes every 5 months is "normal wear and tear".

I think I'll stop now and get off my little soap box.

My dad has a 98 Malibu, with the exact same problem. Every six months, bam, new brakes. He affectionately calls it "the worst car ever made".
Myself, I've never owned a Toyota, although I wouldn't mind an Avalon or hybrid Camry. I currently drive a 99 Chevy Cavalier, which as I'm sure everyone knows, is a fine piece of machinery.
Actually, it's treated me well, I've kept up on servicing and that sort of thing, so it's doing well after eleven years and 230,000 miles.

Last summer a gas line cracked in my GFs 2004 Corolla. She started the car and it started spraying gas all over the engine. Less than 40k on the clock.

That was fun.

If you read the link I provided, the list was from the UK government and based on Cars put through MOT tests in Britain!

The government didn't want to publish this list, but we have a new law called "the Freedom of Information Act" where if somebody asks the government they have to provide it if there is nothing like national security or privacy issues..

So - this is the list they didn't want anybody to see, but were forced to provide!!

From the BBC

"The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), an arm of the Department for Transport, yesterday revealed 1,200 pages of detailed statistics on MOT failures following a freedom of information request made by the BBC in July 2008.

VOSA initially declined to supply the material, but last month the information commissioner ruled that disclosure is in the public interest and overturned VOSA's refusal."
