| | | | So... Why do people enjoy this?

I'm in a state of grief at the moment, and trying to take my mind off of it I had some alcohol. I had more than usual, and now I'm reminded why the usual amount I drink is all I have. I'm drunk right now, and it's really unpleasant. I can't walk straight, my arm feel like rubber, I'm light headed. It's like I've got a really awful case of the flu. This is a pretty horrid experience.
So, it looks to me like the question I'm asking is pretty clear, but I know I'm drunk so I'll be as plain as possible just in case: Why do people do this for pleasure? Is there something so bad that this is better? Or do you genuinely actually like this feeling?

In general, they dont. I like to get a good drunk on myself, but I don't get to the point where it becomes unpleasant. A nice little headchange will do me good. Thats mostly why I dont drink much liquor any more, its much harder to keep the drunk in check.

When I drink I have one drink and sip it for a few hours, eat bread and starches with it, and drink water. Head change at all for me is unpleasant, it's muscle relaxing that I enjoy about it. I don't know if this is clear at all... Quote:

I think I'll take that other poster's advice and see if I can sleep.

When Im drinking I like to keep a buzz, but not get to the point I feel sick. I find it relaxing, it loosens me up, and makes me pleasant.
Like other have said though, drinking while depressed is never a good idea. Thats usually when I end up doing something stupid and make a fool of myself. That or I end up even more depressed. Quote: |

| Definitely sleep this one off. If you didnt like being drunk then, why would you go there again?

Definitely sleep this one off. | Well, one last post before I go. I have nothing to compare it to because I don't drink around other people ever, but I think what I'm feeling would be what other people call a buzz. I guess I was unclear when I said I couldn't walk straight, I can, but it takes some thought. The arms like rubber, lightheadedness and effort to walk are what feel like the flu to me, I don't have an upset stomach or anything like that.
Something tells me I'll regret this thread...

Something tells me I'll regret this thread... | I'd equate a buzz to a little lightheadedness. It usually doesnt take me much effort to walk, or think (though I get sloppy and slur a little more as I approach drunkeness). Then again, Ive been drinking regulary for the last 9 or 10 years. And I dont normally drink on my own.
Regardless, I hope you feel better.

And adventure is the only way your going to be able to explain the two ducks, purple sharpie, can of beans, and the tricycle under your arms. |

True, but I've been drunk before and the reason was just to relax, I didn't like it then either. I think I'll take that other poster's advice and see if I can sleep. | Yeah. Alcohol serves it's purpose. The older I get the more I don't like the consequences of drinking too much. I don't like the hangover, I don't like the loss of my coordination. Alcohol is a harsh drug when it comes down to it. This is why I favor other vices. |
