So the wife wanted a little dog...

I love dogs. But I tend to love bigger dogs more - more to love, right?
And so many little dogs have, well, "little dog syndrome"...

But Beth's been wanting a lap dog since her back has been troubling her, and it's harder for her to get on the floor with the big dogs.
Of course, this is dog #3, which is another issue, but finally we agreed.

So now we have a black Pomeranian pup, and she's really a good little dog. She was badly undersocialized (to the point where we weren't sure we'd take her) but is blossoming into a lovely, fun, smart and loving young lady.
Meet Sabrina - all 7.5 lbs of her, pictured with Sabre, at 115 lbs.
They adore each other.

The morning celebrations when everyone gets up are now even more celebratory (whereas Sabre's basic greeting is "I missed you SO MUCH!", Sabrina the pom's, basic greeting is "I'm SO HAPPY to see you! - Let's CELEBRATE" - subtle difference).

and of course, Sabre, the molossan, thinks Sabrina is saying "Salivate" when Sabrina is saying "Celebrate"...

Jai, being older, is more nonchalant about the whole thing. But Sabrina and Sabre play really well together. Really funny to see them playing tug of war - Sabre just holds one end and watches while Sabrina puls and pulls and pulls... And plays very, very gently with her little dog.

It's all working out rather well.

My wife just got a lap dog as well. A mini Dapple Dachshund who was the runt of the litter, so hes about 5 lbs fully grown.

Took a while for my dog to get used to the fact of a much smaller dog around, but all's going smoothly now.

Cute dog by the way, how much did he/she cost?

I LOVE my dachshund. I've had him for 10 years now and he's still very youthful. Mine isn't that tiny (15 lbs) but he's got to be the most clever dog I've ever experienced.

I like all dogs, but I've had little dogs all my life. Nothing like having a dachshund sleeping around your neck, haha.

I've become really attached so far. So much so that I find myself favoring him lately which I try not to do, but its hard when you have a tiny dog that's no more than a foot tall staring up at you. Especially since I'm 6'5, haha. When my wife told me that she wanted a little dog I was expecting one that would bark a lot all day and all night, like most tiny dogs tend to do but he only barks when there's an unfamiliar dog around or a lot of people overcrowding him. Very relaxed and VERY friendly.

I think every dog I have in the future will most likely be a small dog.

Gold, sounds like your little dog found himself a long time home... cool.
Visrale - one huge plus on the smaller dogs definitely is that they live longer. Sounds like yours is in a good place with you.

I have a Lhasa Apso.

I don't think I'll be getting another small dog for a long time. She's adorable, and all, but my GOD is she high maintenance!

That was Zeek! He was such a good gentl soul. Last March he had an embollism the day after his 2nd birthday and we had to put him down.

Dogs really are great... but they can easily break your heart!

Here is our new brindle Hagrid (11 weeks old) torturing Haus.

I now return this thread back to its rightful topic and apologize for the hijack...

At home I have two chihuahuas...one, Tilly, is a year or so old and is a bit of a suck-up. The younger one Milly has an obsession with licking people's noses.
