Soar throats anyone?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am open to suggestions that WORK! Right now I am trying the Zicam melts, its been 3 days, not sure if it has helped or not. the cold did not get really out of hand like it has ni the past, so I will give it the benifit of the doubt.

Last year I used white vinegar and it burned like you know what......turned out I had strep, so putting white vinegar on strep was just in excercise in pain tolerance.

Open to suggestions

Ice cream.
Lots and lots of ice cream.

I haven't had a bad cold or sore throat in a long time, but I would usually just take Tylenol or cold pills, and cough drops.

My doctor told me to make a concoction of liquid benadryl and red/cinnamon mouthwash whenever you feel like a sore throat is coming on. Gargle it for 3 - 4 times. Most of the time it seems to work for me. YMMV

i don't know what to do when your throat is flying, but when my throat is sore, i just rest it.

EDIT: gargling salt water is good for a sore throat, it plasmolysizes the bacteria.

With a soar throat, you breathe through the air.

Okay, this is absolutely disgusting, but gargle a mix of honey and vinegar.

Seriously, it works.

hmmm

I have begun to think that soar throats are just something you have to just "suck it up" and deal with with for the most part, will consider some of the above however. I have heard of these devices (Neti Pot) that run a mixture through one nostrol, your sinus, and out the other nostrol to clense, but any liquid going into yoru nose and hitting the back of your throat is very annoying, like post nasal drip.

I grew up in southern Louisiana, so the cure-all in my house is coffee. I start with about 3/4 of a mug of nice, fresh, stout coffee, and add an extra teaspoon of sugar (I usually put 2 in a 12 oz. mug, so 3 in my sore throat mix), a tbsp of creamer, and a dollup of whole milk to top the mug off. It goes down nice and smooth, and coats within a few minutes. Also works nice on those horsey coughs.

Yep, that does it for me. Salt water and warm water, gargle before you go to bed.

I avoid dairy products like the plague, including ice cream--I've usually got major phlegm going on when I get a sore throat.

Curtybob, the coffee in South Louisiana is always stout. Sometimes you don't even need a cup for it. Just stick a fork in it and break off what you want.

not sure about a "soar" throat...never seen one of those...but for a sore throat you're best option would be to gargle with warm salt water 3-4 times a day. If after 3 days it doesn't begin to improve, go to the doc and get some antibiodics.

Cheers!

Warm some brandy up and sip that, it numbs your throat and gives you a good buzz, I think its called a Hot Toddy or something like that. I just warm whiskey though

don't be too quick to get antibiotics though.
Taking too many antibiotics too frequently will make bacteria in your body immune to it.
