I am open to suggestions that WORK! Right now I am trying the Zicam melts, its been 3 days, not sure if it has helped or not. the cold did not get really out of hand like it has ni the past, so I will give it the benifit of the doubt.
Last year I used white vinegar and it burned like you know what......turned out I had strep, so putting white vinegar on strep was just in excercise in pain tolerance.
Open to suggestions

Lots and lots of ice cream.
I haven't had a bad cold or sore throat in a long time, but I would usually just take Tylenol or cold pills, and cough drops.

EDIT: gargling salt water is good for a sore throat, it plasmolysizes the bacteria.

Seriously, it works.

I have heard of these devices (Neti Pot) that run a mixture through one nostrol, your sinus, and out the other nostrol to clense, but any liquid going into yoru nose and hitting the back of your throat is very annoying, like post nasal drip.

I start with about 3/4 of a mug of nice, fresh, stout coffee, and add an extra teaspoon of sugar (I usually put 2 in a 12 oz. mug, so 3 in my sore throat mix), a tbsp of creamer, and a dollup of whole milk to top the mug off. It goes down nice and smooth, and coats within a few minutes. Also works nice on those horsey coughs.

I avoid dairy products like the plague, including ice cream--I've usually got major phlegm going on when I get a sore throat.

If after 3 days it doesn't begin to improve, go to the doc and get some antibiodics.
Cheers! |

Cheers! | don't be too quick to get antibiotics though.
Taking too many antibiotics too frequently will make bacteria in your body immune to it.
