So TB, I like pop. I would rather drink pop than alcohol. I have had pop from Asia, Europe, South America, North America, Australia. Suffice it to say, I've had a lot of pop.
So far, my favorite pops have been the ones from South America. You can get all the brands you know and love, just without high fructose corn syrup. I don't mind HFCS for the nutritional/ health BS, but I do mind the fact that it makes the pop noticeably thicker. It makes me all phlegmy in the back of my throat. Gross!
So here's what I'm drinking. A "Medio Litro" (half-liter) Coca-Cola from the Mexican bakery around the corner from me. 200 calories of delicious. Bonus is that it comes in a glass bottle. Every soda tastes better in a glass bottle .
So TB, let's talk about soda. What do you like? What do you dislike? Why?

That being said, I like Polar Orange Dry, and Cheerwine.

I've been on a bit of a Mello Yello binge lately.

now, i rarely buy soda, but am a fan of anything orange. |

I know I did when I first moved to the area from Western Pa. | Sometimes from my friends, but rarely do people give me any mind. Most people know that "Pop" = "Soda", and even if they didn't before, the popularity of the Pop Shop has helped teach people.
Still, my mom was born in Cincinnati and grew up calling it pop, too, so I guess that rubbed off on me.

Haven't been drinking soda that much either, lately due to sugar and random bouts of what I can only assume to be dehydration, so it's been water for me, or seltzer water. Or a gin and tonics, due to rampant mosquitos. Gotta keep the quinine levels up, ya know?
also, Mexican Coke for the win.

In the South, all soft drinks are Coke. "You want a Coke? What kind, 7-Up?"
In the Northeast, it is often "soda."
In Texas, long-established families frequently refer to it as "soda water."
On the West coast, I've generally heard it referred to as Pop.
I'm sure that the terms cross geographic boundaries, but that's what I've noticed in my travels.

Most I recall checking said "Soda" a couple said "Sodapop". I can't recall any actually calling themselves just "Pop". |

They just have too much sugar and they always leave my mouth and throat feeling kinda gooey. |

It's just silly to throw all those calories into your body with no benefit. Maybe it doesn't matter at age 20, but when your metabolism slows with a few years, it makes a big difference.
Making the change from sugared to diet takes a couple of weeks - all you have to do is do it and let your taste buds adapt.
