I'm new to selling on ebay. Only sold a few drawings in the past and the winners paypalled me the money immediately following the end of auction.
While I'm hoping that I'm beginning to worry about nothing, I just sold a PSP with a bunch of extras to some girl. She didn't pay immediately. She sent me a message this morning asking if I could send it overnight delivery because she needed it by thursday, and I got back to her telling her the post office wanted $57 for that but I'd be happy to do it if she sends the extra shipping.
It's now about 12 hrs since I wrote her, and a little more than a day since she won. I got $40 more than I was expecting on the sale and was happy about it, but I'm starting to get concerned with her lack of communication, and her needing it by thursday.
Aside from just sitting here patiently, what are the next steps, and how much time is she allowed to take to pay? I imagine relisting (if I have to) it is going to be a little bit of a hassle, and possibly look fraudulent. It also cost me a few bucks to post it and will again when I repost it.
OK ebay experts. Please advise. |

How long does she have to pay?
When should I send her a message asking what's up?
Is there anything I can do if she doesn't decide to pay up? |

You should send her a stern (but pro and polite) message today, telling her you are not going to overnight it if she's not going to pay immediately. Simple.
If she decides not to pay, you can file a non-paying bidder complaint against her. It doesn't do you any good in the short term, but (a) if she gets three of those then she gets booted off Ebay, and (b) once the NPB claim is approved by Ebay, you get to relist the item with no new listing fees. |

Didn't send anything. Was just psyched cuz it went for more than I hoped and I just want to be rid of the thing.
As it looks, she's not getting it by thursday. She asked if I could overnight it after she won the item and I agreed, but told her she had to do it before @:30 EST if she wanted me to get it out today. If not I told her I'd get it out first thing tomorrow as soon as I get the money. |

Sounds fishy that she was in a hurry to get the item, but not to pay for it. Another thing ... some people get so wrapped up in the bidding process, only to have buyer's remorse afterwards when they realize they overpaid for an item.
Instead of re-listing, you could also do a 2nd chance offer to the bidder who came in 2nd. How much of a $$ difference was there between the top two bids? |

No pressure. You're in control.
In the future, feel free to do what I do. My terms state that the buyer must contact me in 3 days, and payment must be received in 7 days or the sale is over and the item will be re-listed.
No, you don't have to do it quickly. Check Ebay's terms and if they say non-payment starts on the 4th day, send her an email giving her a firm deadline for payment - and after that deadline if you haven't been paid, send a 2nd chance offer to the next highest bidder.

She also said she knows that's going to result in negative feedback, but I just want to be done with this. I'm glad she didn't leave me hanging indefinitely, and I've made some impulse purchases so whatever. Letting it go. Offered it using the 2nd chance option and I'm hoping that person goes for it. It was just $1 less. If not I guess I'll have to relist it and hope for the best. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
