Something I find funny....

Sign in to disble this ad
is the fact that the IRS publishes an online schedule of when tax refund money will be paid out. If your paperwork/efile was returned by "X" then your refund will deposit on "Y".

Then they don't follow the schedule. As if anyone thought that they would.

It's funny cuz it's not like they need high marks in the customer service department as the danger of losing repeat customers isn't really a worry for them. So why publish the dates at all when the only thing it will accomplish is once again demonstrate their inefficiency?

Just an observation that made me smile a little bit.

Well, after filing my tax returns I was told I should expect my moneys by Feb 18th, which is today, be direct depost, or the 21st by mail. However, my money was deposited into my checking account a week ago.

Just for grins, they should send out bogus tracking numbers to people expecting a refund by mail.

I wouldn't put anything past them David. That is certainly as valid a theory as any. As for you Matticus....you can bite me. According to the all important schedule on the interwebz, mine would be deposited on the 11th. It is now the 18th, as you said, and my state $$ has arrived but not the Feds. It WILL arrive by March 4th though, I was told. So I got that goin fer me.

Are you like many Americans who have spent your tax return already and now waiting on the funds to pay off what you bought? Or perhaps leave that purchase on the credit card and looking forward to buying something else with the refund?

Not really MJ, although the money IS pretty much spoken for already. I have to spend a good chunk of it getting my truck fixed this afternoon. The majority of the balance will then be put toward my school loan. I'll probably keep $70ish to blow at the bar.

It's a 2000 F-150. Had to have both front lower ball joints replaced. She's getting up there in age and I'm starting to worry bout her.

I replaced those on my 2002 Ram 1500 a few months ago. You go with OEM or upgraded? I upgraded mine to off road class, although I never go off road.

MJ I really couldn't tell you man. While it was on the rack he showed me how the wheel was unstable and then showed me one that was in good shape on another vehicle. I had also been hearing some popping from up there over the last couple days.

I am about as far from a grease monkey as possible so I have to be sure and deal w/ people I trust as much as I can.

My truck is 4X4 but I rarely take it anywhere that calls for it either. 3-4 times a year at the most I guess.

That's one of the oldest tricks in the book. Did you get another shop to look at it?

No I didn't. In the 1 donkey town I currently reside, I take my rig to the only place that seems reputable. It's connected to the Ford dealership, work/parts have lifetime warranty, and everyone that works there still has all their teeth.

I didn't mention the popping noise prior to him saying they needed to be replaced, and I called a close mechanic friend in my hometown and explained the situation. He seemed to believe everything was on the up & up so I carried on.
