Drop a turntable needle on a record! For Christmas my daughter gave her mother a combo turntable/CD/radio player. My daughter couldn't figure out how to work the turntable so I had to show her. She said she never has had to use one - she's 21 - so she was at a loss but she was good with the CD player. I kind of felt a bit old because of course I remember records and turntables from my younger days (I had a Technics turntable, IIRC). Time marches on, I guess!

Abbey Road, side 2 is playing as I write this, in all its glory, as it was meant to be played! The Beatles were f-ing brilliant, weren't they?!

Is it a Crosley system? I have one at my apartment, and it's a fun little unit. Unfortunately, you need to crank the volume a little to get a good sound from vinyl, which is not conducive to living in an apartment. I'm going to be living with my dad for a couple of weeks before shipping off to an internship out of state, so I'm looking forward to playing vinyl at the optimal volume during that time.

Yep, it's a Crosley. Nice little system, with good sound. You're right, we had to crank up the volume a bit when playing a record, but we did anyways back in the day, eh?

She's got a nice collection of albums already, we've just got to dig them out of storage! They've been packed up for over 20 years now, hopefully they're still in good shape. I can't even remember what albums we have, so I hope there will be some surprises there!
