LET FREEDOM RING
By Gillian Underwood-Vincent
Woke up this morning
And I heard the news
So much death and destruction
I still can't believe that its true
And as the day goes on
For so long, I try to be strong
But the painful truth remains
Our world has changed
I look into the eyes of my children
I hold their hands
Its hard to explain evil to them
Its hard for them to understand
And as I hold them close, I think
Their lives could end in a blink of an eye
And I start to cry
But I will never let their hopes get lost
In the evil of this world
And I will never let their dreams get tossed
Into the darkness
And as their mother, I am willing to pay the cost of their freedom
With my own life
And I am willing to do whatever it takes to fight for what's right
So that my children may sing
As I do
As we do
Let freedom ring!!!!
I woke up this morning
God- was it just a dream?
I turn on the television
the scene remains the same
If the nightmare is real
Why is it so hard to feel?
I can't deny, something inside me has died
But I'm still alive
We're still alive
And we must never let our hope get lost
In the evil of this world
All those innocent people paid the cost of our freedom
With their lives
We cannot allow these heros to have died for us
Without doing whatever it takes to make things right
Even if we've got to fight
So that our children may sing
As I do
As we do
Let freedom ring!!!
