i bought these earbuds on 19th october last month. they sounded awesome and i took a lot of care to not to physically damage them or anything..... i had paid 3/4ths of my monthly allowance to buy them so i was always very careful and no doubt they sounded awesome. and then today i put 'em on and i notice something is funny with the left bud. ok so i check... hardly any sound coming from it!
so am worried but i check my ipod with other earphones and the ipod is fine so i check these sony ear buds and yes the left one is almost dead holy crap! i cant believe this its not even been 40days dang! sad man insanely sad
ok so i call up the sony world showroom i'd bought them from and they tell me there is no warranty on any accessories. WHAT? yes so there goes my two months of saving up. i've been told they wont even repair it for some cash. i hate you sony (
sick business ethics they have that they wouldn't even friggin repair them for me. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665371453

I'd suggest contacting SONY directly.
I would start here: http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do |

When I brought it into my local Sony "service" center, I got the very same song & dance: they would not replace, they would not repair. Period.
So it looks like if you purchase any Sony product - and if (when?) it malfunctions - you're on your own. I'm done with Sony.

One pair is broken thanks to being abused by the airlines in a checked bag. Lesson learned from that.
The others are mostly brand new.
I fixed the broken part on the other ones, and have two sets of mostly killer over ear cans.
I enjoy their headphones. I like them better than my HD280s, actually. |

I believe Technics is out of business and Sony is a multi billion dollar enterprise.
Hmmm... I wonder if this has anything to do with it? I'm pretty sure anything I ever bought from Sony eventually broke. On it's own.
Greed is a powerful thing, and I do believe it's one of the roots of all evil. I am 100% certain their products are designed to eventually fail. Sometimes I guess they screw up and it fails a little earlier than planned. |

However, shortly after getting my computer, it crashed (thanks Vista) and I tried to reinstall Windows Vista. It didn't work, infact, it kept getting errors. I called up Sony, several times to fix the problem. Apparently, I can only use the Sony version of Vista on my computer?!
So either I'd have to spend $20 on a reboot disk or send it in for free, under warranty, to be repaired.
I got it repaired.
But I hated their customer service representitives with a passion, they were rude and disrespectful. Your best bet is to not use the phone for this, and use the online reps. That was the only way I got anything done, probably because everything we did was recorded.
One question I'm dying to ask varunkapahi, in America, when we use the phone to call Customer Service, we usually get an Indian guy. Do you guys get Americans when you call?

India has way way way too many call centers running now. the sector is BIG and still doing well but i think it peaked a little more than a year back or so. but still i think they can the whole worlds calls lol

I am ready to have it serviced (mid 70s production, never been serviced)... but it still sounds better then 90% of the new crap that has come out for the last 20 years. |

Never had any issues with it. The Wife and I spent A LOT of hours gaming on it (and the PS1 that we had before it).... had it since about 6 to 9 months after the platform was released |

Haven't had an issue with them.
