I'm going to be in Atlanta tomorrow for a high school band trip and we're playing in front of the aquarium and Watt is going to be at Criminal Records, which is 9 minutes away...

I finally got to shake his hand at the end of a show 2 years ago and talk bass with him for a minute. Go!

I've had several conversations on different occasions many times. Not really a big deal. If you get a chance check out Banyan and if you like Iggy Pop then check out Hellride with Perkins and the guitarist from Porno for Pyros. They play little venues around my local area, some venues that I've even played at. |

As a bass player, it's quite eye-opening.
You can also find Watt doing gigs in a number of other configurations. I see him pimping Mike Watt and the Secondmen shows in the LA area frequently, but I haven't had a chance to check it out.
He's a very down-to-earth and very approachable guy. |

Ive also seen his band Dos, in which he plays bass with ex Black Flag bassist Kira Roessler. And he plays with the remaining member of The Minutemen in a band called The Missingmen. Ive hung out with Mike Watt on various occasions, he once followed me in his van to another local gig after a Dos show. Mike Watt drives slow.
The last time I saw him was after a Missingmen show in San Pedro (he lives in San Pedro) at a local bar that I played at the following week. He had a kayak in the back of his van and couldnt hang out cuz he was getting up early to paddle out.

Anyways he was one of the most nicest and humble guys I met
He talked to me about his "flipper" technique and during that time he was playing a real beat up Thunderbird IV. He said thanks and got in a plain white Econoline cargo van and drove himself and the crew to the next show..
Months later I saw him play for Porno For Pyros in Atlanta .. The guy is awesome
