I had an 'incident' with near boiling hot soup I was cooking and my face... I was in A&E last night (thanks Susan, much hugs), but it's just superficial burns, only broke the skin in one small place even! They were quite concerned about my eyes, asked several times, but I told them I'm pretty sure I'd have been screaming if it hit my eyes...
Thought process went a bit like this... Get crap off face, put cold water on face, now I need a cold wet towel, let's call Susan for advice (she had this happen to her but with coffee, I got off lightly), ok Susan's coming over to take me to A&E, call NHS 24, book myself into A&E, have some time, preliminary cleanup of soup that is all over floor, Susan's here, shoes on, at A&E - time taken to complete all this, about 35 minutes!
So glad I tend not to panic in these situations...
Then when I got home from A&E I finished prepping the soup and reheated it - bloody delicious it was, I'll definitely be making that again

1. I'm guessing A&E isn't the Arts and Entertainment Network
2. What's NHS?
3. Who's Susan?
4. How in the hell did you get a face full of soup that you were cooking?
BTW, that story is VERY "stream of consciousness"! |

1. I'm guessing A&E isn't the Arts and Entertainment Network - Accident & Emergency, you may know it as ER
2. What's NHS? National Health Service, US just got one, I think, congratulations
3. Who's Susan? Wife of guy who I was best man at at their wedding, though I've known Susan longer
4. How in the hell did you get a face full of soup that you were cooking? had to blend a third of it after it had been simmering for 40 mins - embarrasingly I think I basically put too much soup in the blender, and it burst out the top when I turned it on...
BTW, that story is VERY "stream of consciousness"! - I know but I think it reads better that way

Though fortunately most of the splatter hit my body, the t-shirt in question's new camo look is 'interesting' - this mostly didn't burn, just a few read splotches, nothing I was concerned about
How long did you keep your trousers on to make it not pretty???

I, on odd occasion, may get a severe burn when doing welding work. A piece of hot slag goes down your shirt or down your pant leg, and then gets caught up on something, and starts burning in. They can be nasty, but an exploding jar of boiling honey would be very nasty.

Yowser! that's sounds EVIL, I did a degree in engineering where I got to bugger about with assorted welding types for an elective, this never happened to me though...
I do sympathise with the Honey 'incident' though - many years ago my mum was cooking Pea & Ham soup in a pressure cooker, for whatever reason she opened the pressure cooker too soon and the entire contents ended up on the ceiling, unfortunately her face was in the way, she was in hospital for a week, whatever they did it was bloody good though, you'd never guess
