The Bad: humidity, sand gnats, football.
I'd say Beaufort Is a small town, there might not be too many gig opportunities or a great number of open minded people's. I find many South Carolinians are a touch myopic but that the southern hospitality shields you from it.
I would need more Info on you personally to elaborate. Age? Musical Taste?

The people are extremely friendly and I had a lot of great gigs there too. I would go back in a second if given the chance. Beaufort was a bit more backwoods than I like, but still a decent spot.

Very clean. The university is a good one although as a U of SC fan I could make stupid jokes about how all dirt roads lead to Clemson, or I could call it Moo U because of its agricultural programs and being in the woods but I won't
Overall if I wasn't a college student I would not have any desire to live there. It does sit right next to a beautiful lake, which is nice as well. I am sure there are many nice locals and I even know a few but many of them are hicks who dislike education, free thinking and things of that nature.
As a new father it would be a good place to send your kids to college b/c they would get a nice education and be in a clean "safe" place. |

There's a lot of military: Beaufort Air Station, Parris Island, Hunter Army Airfield (Savannah) and Ft. Stewart (Hinesville)
On the Savannah side, there's a whole lot of hipsters due to SCAD.
Greg Allman lives in Richmond Hill and Cliff Williams (AC/DC) had a house here while his daughter was at SCAD.
It's only $1.37 million if you're interested. http://www.luxist.com/2010/10/17/ac-...sts-two-homes/
