Southern BBQ & Miami Beach Requests

Hello TBers,

My brother, his buddy, and I are planning a week-long trip to Miami beach during the 1st week in June. My brother goes into active duty on June 29th - we are taking a last vacation & decided Miami Beach would be fun. We're driving down (from NJ), leaving after we play a gig on May 30th.

Having never been there, I need some help re. BBQ & cool places. If you list an address, please list as much as possible so we can search for it & get directions.

1. What BBQ joints do you recommend between FL & VA? Easy access to I-95 preferred.

2. Any TBers have any upcoming gigs in the Miami Beach, FL area? As musicians, we DEFINITELY want to hear live music & seeing a TBer would be great.

3. Great spots for nightlife in Miami Beach, FL?

4. Any Bass stores in the area? (GAS does not stop on vacation...)

5. Even if you don't have a gig, but are in the area - we'll be up for meeting up for a beer (PM me for contact info)

6. Best Beach? (Haulover's?)

7. Any places to get cheap breakfasts (diners?)

8. Best late-night greasy food spot for after drinking?

9. Any spots for Snorkeling or Deep-sea fishing?

If you are headed down the coast...In Virginia Beach check out Malbon Bros..

It is on the south corner of General Booth and Culver LN/Corporate Landing BLVD. (Same Road...Corp. Landing is on the North side of the intersection...Culver to the South). It is a Citgo gas station with a Deli in it. Great NC style pulled pork BBQ. I worked there as a cashier about 7 years ago and when I went back home for a visit...I made it a point to take my wife there and bring a small bottle of BBQ Sauce back to the PacNW to show some friends what real BBQ is (not that sugary sweet stuff). Same girl running the deli.

EDIT: I don't know if you are planning on taking I-95 down, but somewhere around Philly (I think try to find yourself on Route 13 going through Willmington and Dover and heading down the DelMarVa Peninsula (you get to bypass D.C. traffic). There is a $11 toll to get onto the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel; at the southern end of the peninsula, but it will basically dump into Virginia Beach...then you can pick I-95 by heading over to Emporia (Speed Traps). Also be aware that speeds are lower on RT.13 and there are a lot of small towns that you have to slow down for, but I prefer going that way than I-95

You gotta stop at Bass Central in Orlando, and my favorite beach in Florida is Daytona.
