Ya know, once you get your mind around the fact that they are in fact not hamburgers, they are pretty freaking tasty!

This must be contingent on brand. I've tried several different soy burgers--I admit they were all cheap--with the exact mind set of "it's not supposed to replace a hamburger, maybe it tastes good in its own right," and have never enjoyed one at all. I usually like a very wide variety of foods too.

I do love turkey bratts and bacon that way though: acknowledging that they are completely different from their pork counterparts but delicious all the same.

Soy many not be good for some [most?] people. IIRC, soy can cause hormonal related problems. Since I don't eat much of it, I never looked into the claim.

How do you guys usually prepare them? It's been a few years since I've tried one, and this thread makes me want to give them another shot.

Yeah, I actually prefer veggie burgers to "real" burgers, even though I'm not vegetarian. Same with soy milk and rice milk--I like them much more than "real" milk, and again I have no dietary restriction that would make me choose them. I just like them better.

The one thing about veggie burgers is they can easily be too dry. Part of what's nice about "real meat" is the juiciness. So either I juice them up with plenty of condiments, or I simmer them in some broth or BBQ sauce instead of pan-frying or microwaving.
