Sparrowhawks are living in my neighborhood...

Three of them actually, a male and female pair and a younger one.
My neighbor keeps pigeons and so far has lost 3 of them to attacks by these birds of prey. I find it weird that I've lived here for some time and yet it's only recently that I've started seeing them.

I'll have to see if I can find that picture I took a couple of weeks back of one of them...

Pigeon Poop is Dangerous

Ocular histoplasmosis, a fungal infection that eats away at the eyeball is just one of over sixty diseases that birds can transfer to humans. Their droppings are often the vehicle for transmission as they dry out, turn to dust, become airborne, and are absorbed by the mucus membranes of unknowing victims.

These are racing pigeons worth a decent amount of money being eaten.

Do they wear little racing diapers? If not, go Sparrowhawks.

A Buzzard in my garden back a month ago, devouring a Starling he'd just picked up off the bird-feeder. The pic is taken through a pair of binoculars, through a double glazed window but you can make it out.

They are protected now, for years they were hunted, it didn't take them long to re-establish, impressive birds.

The pic of the squirrel is on top of a mountain way out of habitat for him, he was trapped on the Cairn because he wouldn't make it out in the open across the moorland in daylight, it was the only shelter up there. He was dropped by a Buzzard that had picked him up, flown up there to 'do the business' and lost him somehow, lucky escape.

Look at it as selective breeding. The really fast ones get to propagate.

There are enough sparrows round these parts, ask said hawks to kindly relocate. We have more than enough pigeons as well.
