Speelling mystakess?

My brother was on Facebook just now lamenting all the spelling mistakes he's been making lately whenever he posts on FB or the other forums he goes to. I told him that if he's like me his fingers have gotten less nimble as we age and once you get a good typing speed going you think you're hitting the right keys but in reality you're hitting the adjacent keys. Then you get a good laugh at what you've just typed!

Any of you old farts notice the same thing?

Absolutely true! It's not only the age. We bassists have less feeling in our finger tips. For most of us 'index finger typers', that means we're trying to hit the right key with some drum sticks...

Major typos don't happen to me much, but I dislike interfaces where I can't go back and edit my posts to eliminate typos. I probably go back in and edit at least 80% of my TB posts for clarity or accuracy before I am finished with them.

If I type it, I feel that I'm obligated to make it clear and accurate.

Spelling mistakes are understandable...typing fast and "teh" shows up instead of "the" is no big deal for most people.

What bugs me is when people have no idea how to use simple words taught in elementary school. "could of" instead of "could have". "Of" and "have" are NOT the same word. Do you ever say to the bartender "I'll "of" another beer"??

"there" in place of "they're" or "their". If you can't handle something that simple, then your opinion doesn't carry much weight...

That particular grammatical error is a pet peeve of mine, but is this not a tad harsh? It's a common mistake that people make. Although it does baffle me as well.
