Who should play Peter Parker, Mary Jane, and other major characters? What villians should be used? What elements of the previous trilogy should be preserved or scrapped?

It seems the Spiderman film franchise is about to go through the same thing the Batman franchise went through.
I wish them luck improving on the first three films. They are pretty impressive by most standards.

I thought the previous trilogy was good (although not without flaws of course). I hope it doesn't get dark ala Dark Knight, and I hope whoever plays the lead does a good young nerdy Peter Parker. |

I see no need for a reboot UNLESS it were to go a bit more like the Dark Knight and get real "real". But I am unsure how well you could do that with such a fantastical superhero vs. a plausible vigilante with cool gadgets hero...and I agree it is too soon. At least we had enough time to forget Bat Nipples and Fatgirl (I mean Batgirl)

In any case, weren`t they looking at a young black actor to play the role of Peter Parker? I think I read that a while back but I cannot for the life of me remember the guys name that they were mentioning. |

I'll even go a step farther and suggest that the do a little research and just keep it going and create a new movie on one of the old comics. There are so many good stories left. |

I really think they need to lay off all the comic book franchises, theyre going to burn through that material in the next few years and then we'll just have to suffer through endless sequels and prequels. I hate the Hollywood Machine. In fact, thats now a song title for our show at the Puka Bar in Long Beach tonight.

Not quite the same situation, but the new Hulk film, for instance, was pretty good (IMO).

Fine by me, as long as we don't have any dudes made of sand or PETER PARKER EMO RAGE. That alone made me not want to think about Spider Man ever again.

Why they didn't put them all in the same universe to begin with is beyond me. That would explain the reboot of the Hulk movie (Ang Lee's was horrible anyway), and the plans for many characters to eventually lead to The Avengers movie. Personally, I like the idea of them all being in the same universe.
And on the note of Hulk, as much as I like the Hulk (he being my favorite Marvel character), I really don't see how you can write a good story with him to make a movie out of it. I haven't seen the reboot yet, but I still haven't figured out how it could work. Unless they did a Planet Hulk/World War Hulk movie, but I don't see that happening.
